About Me

Im Martin, from the Philippines. Currently I am based in Micronesia as an expat.

I left the Philippines 5 years ago to study masters in Europe, and when I finished in 2020, I’ve been lucky enough to work as an Expat in the Caribbean, Lebanon, and now in the Pacific. Back home, I used to solo backpack in the Philippines and Asia, exploring and getting lost in places I’ve never been, go surfing, living like a local, and just chill with the pristine nature. Work-wise, I have been working with various island, upland, and urban communities, in promoting resilience. I am also well-traveled in local and asian tourist destination

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meet like-minded people from different parts of the world. Veer away from the traditional hotel stays whenever I'm visiting other countries, because the best way to get acquainted to a new place is by being one with the locals/people, in their everyday lives.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love local tribal rhythms. I love music too. Be it pop, blues, R&B, country. I also am a fan of indie films, especially those coming from europe and asian countries. I read books as well, though most of my readings are technical, I still find time to read about society, gender, inequalities, and anything under the sun.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in a remote island in the Philippines with the local people, learning their language, culture, and way of life. Being one with them, immersing oneself without hesitations and what ifs.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to play the guitar, how to dance, cook filipino food, share my language and culture, lament on the problems of the world lol. When it comes to my learning interests, as long as it's something new, I'd be willing to take it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cost sharing? Stories, experiences, etc. we can negotiate. LOL
