Hi! I'm glad you've come across my profile. My name is Martin, and I'm happy to meet you.

My friends would probably describe me as outgoing, friendly and always full of energy. However, I always try to be considerate, and I can tell when it's better to stay quiet. I am very active and spontaneous. If you called me at 3AM and asked me to get up and go on an abroad trip with you, I would most likely say yes! I love meeting new friends and learning about new things.

I am a bit of a musician: I play the piano, a little bit of saxophone, and the Cajon. I also know very few ukulele chords. I play just for fun, and sometimes we have jamming sessions with friends. Making music fulfils me, and it is among my most significant hobbies.

I love dancing! It's a beautiful way to get to know other people. Also, there's just something magical about when one clicks with their dance partner. I know some salsa, bachata, lindy-hop (swing), and a little ballroom. I will be happy to teach you some if you want!

Last but not least, I like photography (both digital and analogue). I will most likely have my camera with me when we meet! By this paragraph of my introduction, it shouldn't surprise you that my favourite photos to take are portraits.

To name a random fact about me, I like going to airports, flying, and long night coach journeys. I have them all closely associated with great experiences from my travels. :)

I currently study software engineering at the university, and I am intensely interested in computer security.

I don't smoke, and I don't drink much alcohol. I'll gladly enjoy a glass of beer or wine from time to time, though. COVID-19 vaccinated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My answer to this question probably won't come as a surprise to most, since the reason why I'm on Couchsurfing is to meet new friends during my travel and to exchange my experiences and stories with them. Last but not least, to have a lot of fun with fellow surfers!

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't have specific favourites among interprets and songs, though QUEEN and Roxette have a special place in my heart. I like listening to many genres, for example, '70s-'90s rock and pop (and love songs!), swing and jazz, modern pop and indie rock and others.

I don't read nearly as much as I would want when it comes to books, but 1984 and The Little Prince remain my all-time favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One-week-long hitchhiking trip with two friends to Latvia. My first time hitchhiking - and I enjoyed every minute of it. Only regret: it lasted just one week.

Teach, Learn, Share

To have a music jamming session would be perfect... I don't insist, though!

I can teach you some basics of salsa, bachata, lindy-hop (swing) or ballroom dancing.

Also, as a software engineering student with strong passion for computers, I will be happy to teach you anything I know regarding technology. :)
