Hi I am Martin, living here in Hot ans Sunny UTAH!

So your wondering why I am writing you to possible stay with you, see I love to travel but lately I have been affected by a illness to my liver, so traveling is how I like to escape the stress of my illness.

To give you just a bit of details I was taking a cancer medication that attacked my Liver, but I am on the road to recovery, but still have some time before I am 100% again. Well I may never get back to 100% ( am not sure I was every 100% maybe more like 88% right? lol I am doing better and you cant catch anything from me, so don't worry lol. These meds were used to treat a bone illness that I had and in turn attack my liver, but I can still have a few biers but try to eat healthy and drink lots of wine! lol

Spring 2017 Update Please Read, for some reason it shows that I only respond to 33% of the mail I get, not sure why, but that is false!! If I am out of town camping or hiking I have no access to the Internet where are in Utah and if you like nature we have it but there not much internet in the back country here, so please allow sometime for me to get back to you, Thanks

Also the main request I get are from people visiting Arch or Zions National park, but I am 5 hours on the highway from Arches and about 6 to 7 hours from Zions, but its still workable if your coming to the north or going this way.

I live is a small city next to Salt Lake City, about 20 min from Snow Bird and 35 from Park City, so it really in the north, Hope that helps, please feel free to write and ask questions. I am a nice guy and love to meet people, Martin

Now about me:

So I am new to this and really just starting as I have only hosted people from my University, so not sure what to expect, but would love to offer my guest bedroom to travelers as they pass through the area.

As I live with other it is a really quite place. Your have your own room if you like, or there is also the couch as well. ok hope that helps lol.

During my time at the Uni I started working with Exchange Students that were studying here in Utah and helping promote Studying Abroad overseas. My family here also hosted Exchanges Student from Germany for over 10 years so I became friends with a lot of them.

So please note I live in a Apartment in the lower floor of my parents house, so you may get to meet them as well and I have two great dogs, Shetland Shepards that love people but there is some dog hair here, lol at times its everywhere, but I keep it super clean when I can.

I love learning about other cultures and traveling and reading about new places to visit. I have been to Germany and Switzerland the most to visit friends that have stayed with my family in the past. I am trying to expland my travel out to new places each time I travel.

I also like to write about travel some and have worked on a few short article to promote it as well. Germany and Berlin have also had a lot of my interest as I like the topic of Urban Planning.

So I am a bit older then most students, but I find my self out doing what everyone else dose seeking fun and adventure. I am a super easy going guy, I don't smoke, but drink some, but try to just enjoy life along the way.

Well I have seen it here before but I want to meet new people and meeting and staying with people along the way is so much better than hanging around a lonely hostel.

I also love showing people around Utah, I can take you to place you could have seen in the movies and some of the best site on earth for outdoor lovers.

Please note that I live in the north of Utah, by Salt Lake City, so its more like Switzerland, or Munchen with mountains, but in the south of my states is where Moab and Zion's is more of the red rock country.

So I like to meet new people and work more on my German which is bad and really needs help, but I can help other on their English as well. Its also so fun to learn about other cultures I want to learn more about the Italians and French, Danes and all Scandinavia!

I can't say that I am a typical American as I try and not drive a lot and recycle and walk to the local markets, but I am more of a liberal American, come and meet me. I am pretty guy that that to have a few bier and enjoys music too.

Writing, Reading, always leaning about cultures, taking photos, hiking exploring and enjoying cultures. I also build model trains for a hobby and enjoy travel by train a lot. For sports I hike, swim, road biking but I have a bone illness that make my sports less than they use to be! I still work out like to go to parties and meet people, cook so some degree but you wont want me to make you dinner as I am not good at it!

I like about all kinds of music, its really had not to find something in all the music that I don't like, Classical to Rock and Roll, to country to folk music its all good.

Books well there are two many I think I have over 1,000 books on my shelves as this point, I should count them some day but love laying in bed decididng what to read next.

Movies, well that is a bit harder as I like something that is creative and not the crap that Hollywood send us most of the time, lol I have been getting some titles from Germany and even France, but UK has some nice programs as well. I do enjoy the BBC and now watch it more that American tv.

Well on this last trip I had the chance to train with a German small town fire department and it was really neat to see that young people are willing to give their time back to their community!

When people come to Utah I like to show them some of our native culture and the life style of the west as we are different in many ways from the other states here in America .

I would like to learn more about the European culture in general but even what today students think about the past and all of the world problems of getting along.

I like to share some of the great landscape that UTAH has to offer.

I can show you some of the local points of interest up here in Salt Lake or possible take you for a drive to Utah's Red Rock country I love to go there so we need 3 or 4 days for a good trip there, I got all the camping gear so come stay with us and we have a fun time. I know some great spots even where some movies were filmed and can show you some of the back country you need a truck to see.
