About Me

CURRENT MISSION

***Currently planning a trip to Europe for the summer of 2016 as a graduation present to myself***

Starting at the age of 20 I have visited more than 20 countries. Why stop now?

ABOUT ME

I'm a very adventurous person. I love pushing myself to the limit, be it mountain climbing or trekking through jungles. I am at peace in the water. If there is a beach nearby I am the most happy as can be. I can sit and relax on the sand for days on end and would never get itchy feet(no pun intended). I'd like to think that I am a very kind and appreciative person. I'm not used to things coming easy and because of this I may hesitate to accept hospitality. I love to be around people and always feel more at home when traveling with others. I'm quick to make friends and I enjoy a good laugh. I'm good at adapting to my surroundings and I try not to stress out when things aren't going the way I hoped.

PHILOSOPHY

This may be cliche now, but living life to the fullest is my personal philosophy. Don't have any regrets! Carpe Diem!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only traveled for a long duration once and I can say that it changed my life for the better. I have traveled around the world with my sister. Since we were together we used 1 profile for the both of us. You can see the comments that were directed to me and her. The link is here : http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/buttafly88/

I've couchsurfed in Japan, Hong Kong, Turkey, Spain, France and Belgium

Interests

I must start with my love for traveling and my love of experiencing new things. I usually can't sit still and I try to see as many things as possible. I may still be young but every chance I get to travel I go all out. I love to get my blood pumping and to get that adrenaline rush. Be it climbing volcanoes or traversing through jungles. As much as I love the ocean I can get afraid of what is hiding in the deep blue. I have never done scuba but it is on my list of things to do. I am an avid sport fanatic. I love footbal(soccer for my north american compatriots) and I follow the english premier league every week (Proud Gooner). Some people are addicted to caffeine and tobacco but my addiction lies in football and sometimes ice hockey. I am very patriotic when it comes to my croatian ethnicity(mainly towards any kind of sporting event). I may be born in Canada but I do not have a strong connection with my homeland as I should. I always felt I didn't really belong and that was what sparked my first trip around the world. After returning I know that I can't survive in cold climates too long before getting a little depressed. Least but not least is my love for food. I am usually a very big eater and because of this I can try many things at one sitting. I remember one night in Varkala Beach, Kerala, India, I was eating dinner at a restaurant with a few travel companions and I ate all the food that was left unfinished. I remember eating pizza, salmon, shrimp, chicken curry and loads of garlic butter naan.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dan Brown's Series of books (Da Vinci Code), Micheal Crighton's State of Fear, Shantaram, Kite runner. I love house music but really anything that isnt too extreme on the ears. Bonobo, Calvin Harris, Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few. Catch me if you can is my all time favorite movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1st: The first moment must have been when I was traveling in North Sumatra, Indonesia. I climbed a volcano with another traveller I met at the hostel. It was a 3 hour trek (3km)up Mt Sibanung. Once we reached the top we were engulfed by the vapors being released from the huge crater of the active volcano. The pure exilarance I felt once at the top after a near death climb was the first moment in my life that I felt most proud of myself. It was a great feat for me and ever since climbing this first volcano I have been volcano crazy ever since. (please view my profile photo!)

2nd: While traveling with my sister in Dharamsala, India we were graced by the presence of the Dalai Lama! Even though the teaching wasn't in English, simply being 5 meters away from him was one of the most surreal experiences I've had. The moment when he smiled and waved in my direction felt like I was in the presence of a king. His aura was exuding.

3rd: I have never been to a professional football match in my life. However on June 10th in Poznan, Poland I witnessed Croatia versus The Republic of Ireland in the Euro Cup 2012 preliminary round. It was a dream come true and it was the perfect end to my trip around the world. I returned to Toronto on June 16th! Ajmo Hrvatska!

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy meeting and learning for people who are older than me, which is usually everyone I meet when I travel. I'm 22 now but started travelling when I was 20. I've experienced much on my travels, but nothing has absorbed more than the wisdom of those older than me.
