ABOUT ME

My name is Martin and I am currently working as a tax consultant. Which is totally irrelevant. My real passion is to sing the nations song from the Animaniacs, which is the most stupid accomplishment I have ever reached (but also the highest one).

I play music... a lot, and most of the time, I apologize for it by saying I'm just drunk. I am passionate for jazz, blues and rock'n'roll. I also watch movies a lot !

I like photography and carry a shitty olympus around. I was also in a blues band - listening to it is fully optional.

I spent 6 months in Uppsala, Sweden as an exchange student and it was the most awesome thing that ever happened to me.

I enjoy wine, especially on the border of a river with sunglasses on, or at night in the subway singing bawdy songs.

I do law, but I wish I was a ballet dancer.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted a few people in Brussels last year since my flat was big enough to allow it. I am available for any info about the city, where you should stay, what you should do and where you should drink... I prefer short stays during the week-ends - but not so big on welcoming you at midnight and leaving you in the morning without even getting to know you. Make it a human experience, we'll rock and we'll roll !

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When I was in Paris, I hosted a couchsurfer once on an official program, which was really nice - we drank beer and went to a jazz concert in the center of Paris before sharing a bike to go back home !

Also, I occasionnally hosted and/or showed around many foreigners found in Parisian bars or at random occasions ! I really like sharing my experience of the Parisian night life with people.

I tripped within the United States (New York and California) in December and it was my first being-hosted-experience (via Tripping though, not Couchsurfing). No need to say I loved seeing NY and SFO with the advices of insiders who were, furthermore, fully awesome.

My favourite films would be Ernst Lubitsch's, Woody Allen's, the Coen Brothers', Wes Andersons', Quentin Tarantino's, The Marx Brothers', Frank Capra's, and Guy Ritchie's.

As for music, I like jazz (especially Anita O'day, Bill Evans, Chet Baker, Sidney Bechet, Kenny Garett, Tony Williams, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Fats Waller), blues (Stevie Ray Vaughnan, Johnny Winter, CCR, the Allman Brothers Band) and early rock (The Kinks, the Who, the Velvet Underground...). I have a quite extensive discography at home and would love to share it with you ! :)
