Hi there, I'm Martina.
I'm a Translation student in Trieste and a clumsy explorer in my free time.
I was born not too far from the ancien ruins of Pompei with the Vesuvius right outside my bedroom window.
When I was 16 I spent a year in Hungary as an exchange student and since then I haven't stopped travelling.
After not being accepted in my dream university (the translation school in Trieste), and a week of eyebrows twitching, I decided to move to the Netherlands to work as an au-pair for a while.
There, during a day trip in Dordrecht, I met my partner in crime, Julio.
Now I'm back in Italy (studying translation in Trieste!!) and still exploring Europe whenever I have the chance and trying to keep up a blog about it. (https://planningforserendipity.com/)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The first time I surfed was in Rome with my Hungarian host sister, we stayed with a Portuguese guy who just inspired me to do the same. Unfortunately all of the places where I have lived so far haven't allowed me to offer a couch, but I'm trying to get my roommates on board with it!

Interests

Lately I've been stepping out of my comfort zone and I've discovered that behing the couch potato I always thought I was there's a child who loves running, doing yoga, somersaults (told ya, a child), hiking and swimming.
My attempts at being a true Italian cook have mostly gone wrong, but I haven't lost all hope! (Also, I'm a *great* eater)
I love listening to people's stories from around the globe, and I'm proudly collecting a few of my own.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's scientifically tested that if I'm talking in one language and I have to pronounce a word in another language I'll end up using a third language out of nowhere just because.
