About Me
I am Martina.
This is it, but I can make it much more complicated.
I'm a turtle, a tube, a window, a walnut, a leaf, a bookmark, a hand.
Let's proceed with order, and someday you may discover the story of these symbols.
I like staying alone and silent, staying in the corner and learning, I'm quiet and always thoughtful.
But I also like to act: my energies are never focused on a single task for long, other interests need to be nourished too.
I try to treasure what I have, the people I'm close to, my town, the present. What is on this side of the window could be enough. Nevertheless, I always look outside and for novelty.
I'm a Biologist and I'm currently studying Neuroscience at the University of Trieste, with the goal to study the Olfactory System in relation to both pathologies in which it's impaired and the structure of the Flavor System.
I have a tattoo with a leaf (and her friend, the Walnut).
We need to learn. And I own hundreds of bookmarks, I may buy one as a memory of our meeting ;)
What else? I'm a Scout leader, and beyond this, I'm always happy to be helpful!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm here because I like stories.
My trips are most valuable when I succeed in meeting people that know the places I'm visiting, that built part of their persona there. I like the common and yet unusual: the movie theaters, the breakfast routine, the houses, the relationships. Couchsurfing gives me the golden opportunity to experience places through people, and in this way to learn a lot even when the time is little.
I'm here because I like differences and similarities, people and their stories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Something incredible I did? Well, I'm a pretty quiet person, but maybe I can find something special.
I'm particularly proud of that time I visited Minneapolis in February and organized a Postcrossing meetup there.
Visiting Minneapolis (MN, U.S.A.) in February when you have the possibilty to choose any city around the US is already unbelievable for many people. I wanted to make that trip as personal as possible. The first stop was an event that took a couple of months to organize. I had to find people in this website and project called Postcrossing, living in the area and willing to meet for a brunch and talk about poscards, then also a place where to meet, knowing neither the city nor its people. It came out lovely. A meaningful step in the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Well, first of all I'd bring food, and a bookmark. Then, I'd offer time and attention if you feel like talking, but also silence if you prefer. I'd give suggestions and questions, thrilling information about my field of study, and, if I know myself well, also random facts from unexpected associations in my mind and tales about uncommon hobbies. And a smile, too.
