About Me

I would describe myself pretty much as a down to earth person. I encounter others with kindness and openness, I'm always interested in meeting and getting to know new people, learn more about their lives and experiences so far and just enrich my own views and attitude by this exchange. I'm convinced you never stop learning and that every experience - no matter if it's bad or good - makes you grow as a person.
However I'm not solely serious all the time (of course) - I'm always up for a good laugh, actually in my opinion humor is a great way to connect to people I don't know very well yet ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I signed up at this website because I prefer staying with locals while I'm traveling, getting to know new people and maybe even get some insider tips on things to do/eat in the area. I just think it's a better option than staying at fancy hotels where people are constantly trying to get the most money possibly out of you - instead of just being dedicated to the exchange of each other's experiences and sort of helping each other out.
I'm currently living with a host family, so unfortunately I can't offer any accommodations for fellow couchsurfers right now, otherwise I'd love to return the favor other hosts offer here.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music I mostly enjoy Alternative, Indie, Rock and something someone once entitled as "bonfire" music - I just really enjoy acoustic guitar sounds, and YES in combination with a bonfire it's even more atmospheric! But the bonfire is of course not a must - haha

Bookwise I especially enjoy fantasy (such as Harry Potter which I basically grew up with) or crime novels (such as the Department Q Series by the Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen).

Besides that my watchlist on Netflix is quite diverse - I'm really more the series watching type of person than watching movies, but I do watch them from time to time. Currently actively re-watching "How I Met Your Mother", watching "Grace & Frankie", "Love", "Orange Is The New Black", "Snatch", "New Girl", "Grey's Anatomy", "The Walking Dead" - only to name a few. Even though my taste in movies varies, I loooove Disney movies! Back in Germany I started to build up a DVD collection, so that my future children won't miss out on them while growing up ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't really think of a super outstanding thing I've done so far, hopefully my upcoming roadtrip along the West Coast of the US will fill this gap.

Oh well, maybe you can count "cutting lose your roots in your home country and decide to live in another country for 1,5 years" as an amazing thing I've done? I mean for me it wasn't such a big deal, but my family and friends think it's a brave thing to do and it took some guts to actually go through with it - haha. I just wanted to experience another country not only as a tourist for a few days/weeks, but really get to know the culture and everyday life. And for me the perfect moment to do so was right after I finished studying, taking a gap year before I completely dive into full-time working life - you know ;-)

And besides that I'm sort of proud to report that I once saved a hedgehog I found on the street by bringing him to a rescue center for hedgehogs. YES, you read correctly! Apparently something like that actually exists. Didn't know about that either, but I googled it, found one nearby my home town in Germany and I even got to see the other rescued hedgehogs there. Hope that little fella had a good life after that!
