Hi everybody! I'm Martina from Italy. However, I live now in Leipzig, Germany.

I grew up with the positive philosophy of my parents who taught me the meaning of hospitality and the 'open doors' policy. Indeed, my family lives along the Via degli Dei, an important hiking trail that links Bologna city with Florence. Because of that, we have always hosted hikers and people who need a place where to rest.

I deeply care about the natural environment and its protection, and I made of this passion and interest of mine my profession, being a researcher in ecology. In line with my curiosity for nature and its processes, I've developed a passion for the outdoor, and my free time and holidays always involve a hike, a bonfire if possible and some good wine and chocolate to share!

When not hiking or picking wild fruits, you can usually find me hanged upside down on a trapeze or aerial hoop. If not, I'm probably reading about intersectional feminism or intentional communities. If not, I'm obviously nurturing my social relationships!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because it's a deep way to get to know places that I would like to experience. I'm not on Couchsurfing because it's cheaper, but because I see it as a great opportunity to create bonds across geographical distances, and nurture a social 'ecosystem' that is made out of cooperation, generosity and curiosity (rather than selfishness, greed and fear of the different, that unfortunately are very widespread in our times!)

I have a very heterogeneous taste when it comes to music, but in general I enjoy a lot various genres of electronic music, including dub, dubstep, techno and psytrance. I also love live concerts and music festivals, so I'm always down for some good music event!

Teach, Learn, Share

Happy to share my passion for the outdoor and to teach some cool acrobatic positions. Who comes to visit me in the countryside of Florence will be suggested certainly to visit Florence, but also will be accompanied to visit the beautiful Apennines around my village. Who comes to visit me in Germany will be brought to a nice bike tour around Leipzig lakes!

I'm happy to learn everything that my host feels natural to share with me :) Obviously, I'm curious about traditions and cuisines!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like spending good time together and learn from each other. But I also know that sometimes is hard to fit a Couchsurfer in the busy daily schedule, so I am grateful also for a breakfast together and nothing more. If fancy for it, my hosts will be delighted with a good Italian (vegetarian) pasta! :)
