HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couch Surfing to us is akin to random acts of kindness - opening your home & showing great hospitality to a stranger is one of the nicest things you can do for a person.
Couch Surfing just seems like such a brilliant way to meet people, travel & really experience a place. We both know from living abroad that the best person to take you round their town is someone who lives there, not a tour guide.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have had only positive experiences, we've met some great people & we hope to meet many more in the future. So far we've hosted & met up with people for a drink, we're yet to surf ourselves, watch this space though!

The most obvious thing is travelling, we suffer from severe wanderlust. As mentioned above we’re into snowboarding, eating out, socialising, keeping fit & playing poker! We also love watching films, reading, walking in the mountains & fancy dress parties (to date we have been penguins at an igloo party, bananas at a jungle party, a sailor, air stewardess & part of a 12 person tracksuit team at a, well, tracksuit party) – see out photos if you want a taster of our outfits!

Our iPods are crammed full of all types of music, from the Rolling Stones to hardcore trance! There’s always music on in the flat somewhere & we love going to concerts, in the past couple of years we’ve seen Kasabian, The Killers, Gwen Stefani, Razorlight & the Kaiser Chiefs, Pubic Enemy – who were all fantastic.
Our taste in films is as varied as our taste in music. We recently saw Atonement & that blew us away. We quote Anchorman a lot & we like silly comedies such as Austin Powers & Hot Shots. Martin watches a lot of Snowboard films, his favourites are More, Mtn Lab 1.5 & Ubermovie.
We read a lot – mainly guidebooks! Jacqui likes John Steinbeck, George Orwell & history books. Plus a good helping of trashy magazines such as Heat & Grazia!

We did a sky dive in December 2007 in Queenstown, New Zealand. The experience was one that cannot be described (so we bought the DVD!). It was a tandem jump from 15,000 feet on a beautiful day, incredible.
