About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm West Auckland born and raised, have been living and working in the city for several years now.
I've done a little bit of travelling in my time- to Australia, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Bali, Canada, Brazil, the USA- without ever really doing the classic Kiwi "big OE". I'm looking forward to making new connections wherever I go.
I've been hosting couchsurfers with my girlfriend Melisa www.couchsurfing.com/calimeli since June 2014. Since then we've hosted CSers regularly, as well as hosting CS parties, so I've got into the swing of things pretty quickly. Having had no experience with this at all until 2014, I'm now pretty accustomed to having new people in my house!
I'm loathe to describe myself as "open-minded", or talk about how I'm using CS to make the world a better place, as seems to be CS tradition. I'm really just a regular guy who stumbled into this and, it turns out, kinda likes hanging out with new people. I'm generally a pretty quiet, low-key guy (until I've had a few drinks), I'm pretty comfortable with silence and my own company, but happy to talk about pretty much anything with anyone. I'm not gonna tell you that hanging out with me will change your life, but past experience suggests it'll probably be pretty ok.
PHILOSOPHY
Do I have a personal philosophy? I dunno. Camus or Schopenhauer probably had better ones (not that I can really remember the details).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My girlfriend Melisa www.couchsurfing.com/calimeli and I have hosted many people and many big parties full of CSers. We recently moved to a new apartment on Shortland Street and will start hosting again soon.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have hosted many people, parties and smaller dinners, and stayed with hosts in Singapore, Canada, Brazil, USA etc.
Interests
I wish this was more interesting...but sport. And beer. And wine. And whiskey. And food.
Over the last year or so the "beer" part has become a bit of an obsession, I'm no expert but I just love trying new beer.
I've studied literature and philosophy in some depth many years ago as well, so we could talk about that if you want. But I know more about rugby league.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm mostly into hip-hop. I'm also probably embarrassingly aware of what's going on in pop music for a 30 year old man.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Road-tripped across the US from LA to NYC via Toronto.
Teach, Learn, Share
People don't seem to understand cricket, even though it's not at all complicated. If you want to know why it's great, I'll tell you. Repeatedly.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Brazil, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
New Zealand
