Hola future friend!

My name is Martine and I'm French Canadian. Born and raised in the province of Québec, I studied communication at University of Montreal, living the life of a server that works too much to pay for the crazy student life in a big city, just before I realized this wouldn't be what works out for me.

After selling everything I had, quitting my job and getting rid of my expensive appartment, I got myself a lovely Chevy Astro Van and been living out of vans since then, in the cold Canadian winter or in the hot Aussie summer. Spent the last year in Margaret River before I made my way to Bali try to surf waves that have been so good and so rough to me. Now back to Australia on the East coast this time for a second year Working Holiday. Got a couple of my home girls with me and we are keen to hang out, catch some waves, laugh a bunch and explore.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because I'm hoping you'll want to bring me around town and show me the most delicious spot to eat. I hope you'll take me to the sweetest surf break, let me walk your most scenic hike, teach me how you dance, let me hear your favourite song, tell me about your craziest adventures, take me off the beaten track and take me to places I would have never found without you. Maybe you can even show me your best recipe. I promise I'll clean aaaall the dishes.

I'm looking for advice to make my travels as epic as possible and hopefully you'll want to be part of it!

Oh, and also, I probably need a spot to sleep or hang my hammock if you have one :)

Interests

Even though I'm not too great at it, surfing is my favourite thing in life.

Other than that, I love delicious food, spices, herbs, sauces, smells and flavors. I love yoga, meditation, breathing deeply. I love making new friends, even if they're just for a minute. I love feeling small, in the mountains, in the ocean, in the forest. I love hammocks. I love peacefulness, yet I love chaos. I love learning new languages. I love tea, especially chai. I love glaciers and I love drawing a fresh line into untouched fluffy powder snow with my snowboard. I love freedom, animals, the sunrise and the feel of the wind on my face. I love the unknown, I love it when I'm scared. I love adventures, beaches, hikes, scars, scooters, lakes, rivers, sunrises, calm mornings and so much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spend a full Canadian winter living in a van off the mountain carpark without a heater snowboarding every single day.
