About Me
I'm not sure if I can host you, have to discuss it with my roommates and I'm not home all days, but just send me message and I let you know. I a matrass for one person or a couple, but if you have a matrass, I have space for two.
.................
Hi! I'm Martine, just moved from Rotterdam to the Hague where I started studying again after after working a few years as a freelance art historian for several modern and contemporary art institutions in Rotterdam. I got a bachelor degree in art history, but didn't want to go back to university for a master degree, but I'm in music school now, for music teacher. And I love it!!
I play the harp, learning guitar and drumming, also singing and playing piano is an important part of my studies.
I love to travel, and made a good beginning this year to discover more of the world. Last years I've been traveling around former Yugoslavia after I fell in love with Serbia and Montenegro when I went with a friend on a hitchhike trip. I would really love to go back to Eastern Europe and discover more countries. Because I'm a poor student and the corona crisis, my old racing bike and I am gonna discover a bit more of Holland. For me the most thrilling about traveling is, besides everything that wakes the art historian and nature lover in me, connecting to so many new people, make friends and learn form each other.
If you have place for me to sleep a night, I make a good vegetarian/vegan meal for you, and real dutch pancakes as breakfast.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling is not about seeing the world, but about meeting it's people. I want to step out of my own surrounding, have an open view to the world and explore the beauty of living in places I don't know yet.
At this moment I don't have enough space to host people as I just have one room for myself, but in the future I can when I arranged my room a bit better and a second matras would fit in.
Interests
I try to play a lot of music, harp is my main instrument, but also play the piano and just started guitar. I love swing dancing, I dance lindyhop, collegiate shag and a bit of charleston and I love to go dancing also in other cities. Besides music and dancing I love nature, going to the dunes and the beach in The Hague, reading and doing yoga and have a chat with my two lovebirds:)

Music, Movies, and Books
I almost take my jazz and soul heroes with me, like Miles David, Ella and Louis and Nina Simone. Like to go swing dancing, but also good techno parties. I'm a storyteller, as a musician, as a tour guide, as a person, so I love to reas (classic) short stories, fairytales and poetry. Maybe I can read a story for you before going to sleep;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking trought the Balkans. First with a friend from Budapest to Montenegro, later I went back to Serbia and Bosnia on my own and I had to cross the border by hitchhiking as I could find a bus line. I traveled trought the mountains, so beautiful! I met the most amazing people, got stuck a few times while hitchhiking, and overcome my fear of traveling alone as a woman.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a really curious person who loves to wonder myself about what I'm seeing. People say that I'm easy-going, I think it's at least true that I feel comfortable with new people really quickly. When I travel, I never have a strict plan, I see what's coming to me. And when you grew up in a suburb in a completely urbanised area in a country with grey, wet weather, I see really quickly the beauty of other places.
