About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Use all my creative potential to make people wonder about energy challenges!

ABOUT ME

Curious, open-minded, on the look-out for different kinds of truths, not easily afraid, natural observer with an inherent urge to forget about my observing nature and just let go and participate, most at ease at the dance floor, dancing on anything from gypsy to Brazilian music, into outdoors sports, hiking and horse riding, amateur writer, polyglot, passionate about my job, but no long term career plans, always looking to change the world for the better, in ways that are in my and my friends reach.. (which can go further than you think!)

PHILOSOPHY

I have one of course (probably somewhere in the back of my head); but need to write it down! will do so a.s.a.p. What comes closest is a combination of; think big, act small, don't be afraid, keep smiling, and let go..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like hosting and try to surf myself as well - haven't surfed very often yet (about 4 times now)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I now have had a few couchsurfing experiences myself and I must say; it was great! I also hosted many, many people and I love it. It's really more and more my favourite way of travelling. Other than that, before I joined couchsurfing, I have surfed the couch of people that I met travelling or during one of my prolonged periods abroad. I still quite often sleep on the couch of my former apartment in Paris. Every now and then I tip over with this couch ending up on my head, but other then that, it's a great couch. haha.

Interests

People, different cultures, languages, my job, sports (kick-boxing, show jumping, running), theatre classes and going to the theatre, South-America, travelling in general but particularly living abroad, large cities and its different neighbourhoods, books, art, movies, museums, sailing, my friends, giving strange parties.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books> Shantaram; Disgrace; Snow falling on Cedars; the Chosen; Le soleil des Scorta; the kite flyer; A fine Balance; a lot of non-fiction on psychology, innovation, sustainability, organizational science and anything that catches my interest (preferably books that have the potential to change how I see things)

Music; all (almost), in particular French, Brazilian and Argentinian music and all music with good rhythm that makes me laugh and want to dance.. (quite a broad category)

Movies: Welcome, Babel, Traffic, Y tu mamá también, Quase Dois Hermãos, o Estômago, Slum Dog Millionaire, Himalaya, Crash, Temmple Grandin

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

hitchhiking to Stockholm was pretty cool :-), living in Sao Paulo was amazing, especially being part of the women basketball team of the university I was attending (without knowing how to play), sleeping on people's roof in Marocco where I traveled as a child with my family, swimming with crocodiles in the Pantanal in Brazil (and turning psychedelic for not sleeping for three days since my body could not get used to sleeping in a hammock), a 9 hour walk in the Himalayas in India to a male-only cloister where monks were playing polo, galloping the beach of Costa Rica in competition with a local guide who thought he could outrace me, playing big piece chess in Malaysia with a grandpa a quarter my size who was trying to hit on me, hitchhiking with truckers in Argentina, swimming in the Amstel in Amsterdam, showering in the bush-bush in Botswana, watching girafs graze, samba dancing till my feet hurt, racing on Arab horses in Jordany!

Teach, Learn, Share

riding a bike in Amsterdam, eating a 'haring sandwich' for breakfast, hitchhiking, Dutch, making Dutch pancakes, my passion for innovation, sustainability and change
