About Me

CURRENT MISSION
See as much as I can, and meet new, interesting people!

ABOUT ME
I like to be get outside and have fun, but that is not my sole aim in life.
Curiosity is what drives me. I'm curious about the world and its contents. I just finished my degree in history and also studied documentary film making. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, reading, documentary films, New york pizza, and rock/ice/and mountain climbing. I have done many jobs from museum work to trail building. I enjoy the beauty of nature and of cities, and seek out both. I think we need a bit more kindness in the world and I try to live by that. I've had a very lucky life, and I have gotten to see a lot. I enjoy ideas and meeting new people.

PHILOSOPHY
Don't try to control others, and don't let others control you. There is no authority but yourself. Love the earth she is your mother!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people who are open to conversation, make friends in new places, and return the favor in anyway I can. I first heard of the site when actually couchsurfing around Ireland between family, friends of family, and family of family friends. Though I also hitchhiked and used hostels, my faith in the goodness of people was somewhat renewed and many connections I made stick with me. I like the notion of an open community, where the door is always open for travelers so long as they treat it with respect. I would like to see places that I might not otherwise be able to afford, and get insight from a local, share a meal with them and share our stories. Similarly I enjoy meeting people in the grocery store or in a large class. I think the more human connection we have outside of our small circles of family and close friends, the more humane and peaceful our world can be and I think that couch surfing helps to create that world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently climbed glaciated My Shuksan in Washington State.

However, a less adventurous accomplishment might be coming close to Bruce Spingsteen and Brad Pitt, not fangirling and even leaving them alone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love conversation, have tons of tidbits in my history loving brain, yet enjoy listening and since I am young and able bodied I can help with some chores or tasks around the house.
