About Me

CURRENT MISSION

i want to see the world and meet all the lovely people we share it with.

ABOUT ME

I am a pretty easy-going guy who loves music, travel, philosophy, people and other animals. Always learning and growing, questioning things and exploring, for me that's what travelling is about. I'm generally fairly quiet and shy when I first meet people, but I do like to party occasionally and go to festivals and raves. I love music and sing and play guitar, harmonica and didjeridoo and sometimes do gigs. I've got a lot of love for all animals (including humans!). I play in bands and on my own here in the UK and have played a bit in Europe and one of my favourite things is to sit around with friends, smoke a nice joint and have a jam. At the moment I am a support worker in a special needs school in Bristol, which is a very arty, bohemian, vibrant, social conscious city.

PHILOSOPHY

Question everything, explore, be humble.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couchsurfed In Belgium, Sweden and Poland in my old band Presuming Ed as part of our Euro tour, which was one of the best months of my life. I've also had a couple of awesome hosts in New Zealand. I've yet to host but when I get the chance I'd love to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed In Belgium, Sweden and Poland in the band Presuming Ed, doing a few gigs along the way. I also had a couple of great hosts in New Zealand.

Interests

I am interested in most things and I always want to learn and expand my mind but more specifically I love music. I was in an indie-folk band which played a number of gigs and festivals in the UK and abroad, a blues band at university and I now play jazz and folk as a solo act. I sometimes write a bit of poetry too. I am also really interested in Philosophy and Science, though I am by no means an expert. My favorite books are 'Wired For God?" by Charles Foster, 'Status Anxiety', by Allain de Botton, and 'The Philosophy Gym', by Stephen Law and the novels of Zadie Smith, Ian Mcewan and Kazuo Ishiguro. I love nature and walking, particularly forests. I am also interested in spirituality. I meditate sporadically and occasionally take psychedelics. I'm trying to get into gardeing at the moment and I'm trying to grow magic mushrooms, vegetables and flowers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Philosophy books by Allan de Botton, Simon Blackburn, Bertrand Russel, novels by Ian McEwan, Gregory David Roberts, Zadie Smith and Kazuo Ishiguro among others. I love all kinds of movies, but some of my favourites are Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind, Amelie, anything by the Cohen Brothers, anything by Quentin Tarantino. As for music, Radiohead, Talking Heads and The Smiths are my heroes and I also love Iron and Wine, Scott Mathews, Lee Scratch Perry, Bonobo, Mos Def, Tom Waites, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Tinariwen, Ali Farka Toure, Buena Vista Social Club, Baobab Orchestra and Khruangbin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've walked every every morning of my stay in De Bokkevelt, South Africa, drived through Sweden to Ronas, bungee jumped in Queenstown, swam through the crystal clear water of an underground cave in Tonga, the music of a church service or a kava ceremony in Tonga, trekked through the set of Mordor on the Tongariro Northern circuit in New Zealand. That's more than one but oh well.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach guitar, harmonica, ukulele, didgeridoo and English! I want to learn to surf, cook, do yoga, and maybe play piano (I do play a little) or any other instrument really. I'm currently learning Spanish so any help would be much appreciated. I'm often told I need to toughen up and also learn some common sense, so if you have any advice about that I would be very grateful, haha. Also, I of course want to learn about lots of interesting people and cultures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A damn good time! I'll cook, I'll clean, I'll play you a song or 2, give you a cuddle and generally be your friend.
