ABOUT ME

'Who am I?' Tough question.

I am a traveller - A few years ago I did a six-months mind-eye-spirit-blowing world travel! Malaria put an end to it but it was an amazing experience. It has changed me a lot. Since I got back I've been working on my PhD Thesis in Protestant Theology, and don't have so much time (or money) to travel around. So I travel in my dreams... but I'll be on the road again pretty soon. So I hope!

I am a music lover - The guitar especially plays an big role in my life. And as I can't imagine stop playing when I travel, I have bought a small travelling guitar! It accompanies me everywhere, from the Indian trains to the Cambodian jungles. My fingerpicking allows me to get in touch with people. That's the wonder of music, which speaks to any heart, be it European, Asian, American...

I am an open-minded thinker - I consider it one's duty to try to understand the world around and have a grounded opinion on as many subjects as possible. Being human is so much more than having a roof, a shelter, enough to eat and being entertained by the English Premier League... though I myself like football! I firmly believe that curiosity and continuous education is the way which will lead mankind in a better path.

I am a funny guy - the last paragraph sounds so serious! I do like partying, joking, having fun... Friendship especially is very important to me and I spare time to nurture relations.

PHILOSOPHY

I was lucky to be born in France, one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Therefore my life is full of possibilities, on the contrary to so many people who can hardly make any choice. That's why I consider it as a duty to use this freedom to (1) get committed for change; (2) make the most out of every moment of my life. I don't want to look back at the road in 50 years and tell myself I could have lived and done so much more...

'Love your neighbour as yourself', said Jesus.

I am a believer. And I believe in the power of love. To love is to leave space for the other in yourself. To open your mind, your concern, your heart, your timetable... to others. When you are in love with someone you can feel that suddenly you are not the centre of your own life. She or He is. You are not the centre of yourself any more! You are ex-centric! Let's be ex-centric to the many, and the world will be a better place.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have myself been hosted during my world travel... there's a time for receiving, and a time for giving. I now wish to host myself. But my jobs have up to now kept me very busy, and I don't want to host not being able to be really present, especially as I've a 1-room flat in which I work. But I hope to be able to engage more in the future!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Still a tiny tiny one, I've hosted a couple of French travelling to Asia by bike! A great project that was. Unfortunately they had to fly back home from Turkey, their health wasn't at its best. F****** health, that's a real travel-killer.

I am a huge fan of Muse and of Tommy Emmanuel. But I also really like Fauve, The Kooks, Franz Ferdinand, Mark Knopfler, Norah Jones, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Joao Gilberto, Django Reinhardt... so many musicians. I am also discovering classical music. I especially like J.-S. Bach and Tchaikovsky.
