About Me
CURRENT MISSION
After 15 years away I returned to my hometown last year. I am working from home, my best childhood friend lives next door and my parents are around the corner - metaphorically speaking. Is it a step back, no, it's a step forward. If I have learned only one thing in the last 25 years it is that life is too short to surround yourself with people who hold you down. I have an obligation to myself to what makes me happy.
ABOUT ME
Oh dear, that is a long story. I was born and raised in Germany, went to uni in the UK and then worked my way across Europe. 6 years ago, when Britain decided they no longer wanted to be part of the EU, I decided I no longer wanted to live in Britain and so I returned to Germany.
PHILOSOPHY
I have found God but I do not adhere to any of the common religions. I try not to offend anybody - as long as it doesn't involve slaughtering animals or human sacrifice in my flat my guests are free to practise their religion. My personal happiness is very important to me and sometimes making other people happy makes me happy. Sometimes life really is that simple.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My home is your home - I know what it is like to try and get by with very little money in your pockets, so I am prepared to share what I have to make things easier for all of us.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed and hosted and I think that next to fire and the wheel, Couchsurfing is one of the best inventions ever.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of genres but my favourites are:
Movies: Romcoms, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Comedy, OV (original version) - I particularly like films by Klapisch and Almodovar;
Music: Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, Latin;
Books: Fantasy (Lord of the Rings type of stuff), Historic novels - lately I have been reading a lot of Tony Parsons and Nicholas Sparks, a little detour into the romcom department while I am waiting for the next Bernard Cornwell Saxon Story to come out.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to the London 2012 Olympics (as a spectator) while still recovering from breaking and dislocating my foot. Grossly overestimated my mobility but had a great time and would do it again!
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to teach for a while and I loved it - the part where you stand in front of a group of children and make them understand why you love languages so much and why languages and travelling is just the most splendid thing in the world. So I can teach you that.
I am a great listener too and would love to learn more languages but more so about other cultures, science, religion - teach me, don't convert me - I want to learn everything there is to learn.
What I Can Share with Hosts
my time, my smile, my wicked sense of humour, my stories, and last but not least my couch, my fridge, my washing machine
