About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn to trust and be open to the world.

ABOUT ME

I am married and have three daughters. Traveling, hiking, and biking are some of my favorite activities.
I am retired from university teaching but still teach part time.

PHILOSOPHY

To trust or not to trust? It is an open question couch surfing may help answer that question. My belief and most of my experience is to trust but the question remains open. I may be the most important question for our future as a race.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a local discussion board about independent travel to discuss with
the university community the value of independent travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed France and Spain in 2010 and have informally hosted at home several times since. I have recently fully retired and looking forward to surfing again soon.

Interests

Traveling, hiking, biking, long discussions over coffee or wine or perhaps a campfire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am afraid of the world, therefore I must travel.

Teach, Learn, Share

My academic background is in statistics and the evaluation of information. How "good" is the information? How is it distorted?
How is it used to make decisions? How is it presented? How does this "rational information" interact with intuition and emotion? How do we make decisions? What is the balance?
