ABOUT ME
http://www.pokernews.com/video/seat-open-with-marty-mathis-growing-up-gaming-emerging-from-8649.htm
I am a college graduate who has left the United States to pursue my career in poker after the US government made it illegal to play online there. I am currently residing in Tijuana, Mexico.
I got bit by the travel bug in 2009, and have been sleeping on floors/couches around the world since.
I want to see all the world has to show me, and I am trying to use poker to take me there.
I'm very easy going, conversational, and very open minded.
As a professional poker player, I'm definitely the type to take risks in life, but am still level headed enough to know when to make rational decisions.
PHILOSOPHY
the non-initiation of force. let people live their lives how they want to, so long as it isn't harming anyone else.
as far as my personal life goes, i try to make the most of opportunities, even when things take a turn for the worst.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to host people when I have the available space/time, and always appreciate a place to crash from other cool people! Nobody likes staying in hotels
I hope to travel a lot in the near future for poker and meet a lot of awesome people along the way
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted several couchsurfers both on this site and off for about 5 years now. I was introduced to the project while traveling through Europe and it's something I like to be involved in. I like to have an open door policy for visitors in my house
I feel awful my response rate is only 60%, but I had switched my couch availability to "No" and forgot to hit the update button for months. I was away from my email for awhile, so I'm sorry if that affected you in any way.
Interests
I like to travel. I have a long list and only so much time. I also enjoy my work a lot, and it consumes most of my time
I like music, music is everything really. Festivals are awesome
I like to go out, have a few drinks, or just do anything social where I can meet with new people.
I'm willing to try most things and won't look down upon anyone for choices/activities that I don't necessarily want to participate in myself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was in Berlin for the 20 year Anniversary of Mauerfall in 2009. It was awesome seeing the dominoes decorated from artists all around the world with their visions of what freedom meant to them. That night, former world leaders pushed down the dominoes from 4 corners of the city and they fell down to symbolize the collapse of the Berlin Wall. Afterwards, leaders from all over the world spoke and Paul van Dyk put on an amazing performance with a long firework show to close. I will never forget how amazing the energy was that night.
