About Me

Well? To cut a long story fairly short... I grew up in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, studied in Glasgow for 4 years before working, travelling, woofing and hitchhiking my way around Australia for a year and a half. I then spent 6 months in Asia before heading back home to work and save; heading off cycling around Europe- which is the next big trip starting in September. Tend to spend my spare time going on hiking trips, road trips and camping in the wild somewhere with a few mates cooking, chatting and having a couple of beers around a campfire. Climbing whenever I can, biking, playing guitar when it's time to productively chill out and of course anything that involves hanging around with other human beings. Tend to invest in trips away to visit friends I've met along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Have hosted a number of friends that I've met on my travels and have really enjoyed showing them the best of Scottish culture and cuisine as well as the best of the outdoors that Inverness and the Highlands have to offer. Always great to meet new people, and this is one of the best ways to do it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Continuously learning and discovering new artists and usually looking for a good folk singer or band- someone who can play a few chords, pluck a few strings and tie them together masterfully with poetic lyrics and the right voice. Bob Dylan, The Tallest Man on Earth, Sixto Rodriguez, Fleet Foxes to name a few.
Apart from that- some of the best times have come from dancing to some disco or techno if the occasion is right.

Movies: Anything by Martin Scorsese won't go a miss. For a laugh, look no further than Woody Allen.
Documentaries on space and nature, as well as straight up fascinating stories and films that provoke discussion are right up my street.

Books: Recently read:
Henri Chatrierre- Papillon
Tobias Wolff- This Boy's life
Aldous Huxley- Ape and Essence
Ray Bradbury- Fahrenheit 451

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would pride myself as a great story teller and I can share what I've learned about different cultures through stories based on my own experiences. So I imagine we'd share a lot of laughs. Always been fascinated to learn about other people's ways of life and exchanging this through conversation is definitely the funnest way to learn.
