我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I have actually been in 'surf-mode' myself; traveling from one place to another as a means of housing for about three quarters of a year.
Having had experience as a semi-coucher, be it limited to my own country, I hope to broaden my experience. By providing a cozy place for travelers to explore from and by venturing past Dutch borders myself . This is a promise I don't expect I'll have trouble keeping as I am very grateful for the shelter I was generously offered in the past. My unforeseen predicament at the time turned out to be a gift later. Because of the people I met and by the lessons I learned along the way. Taking someone into my home in the future will undoubtedly add to that and sort of make it 'come full-circle'.
In addition; I may yet be in need of couches to surf myself. In time I might get the travel-bug again and start moving around so who knows?

Books are my faithful travel-companions; I bring stories along wherever I go. Books are a wealth. Unlikely heroes and tragic heroines hiding behind even the most unassuming of covers, ready to leap from crisp, fragrant paper at the turn of a page. Drama, action and suspense as good as motion picture out there and probably the exact the reason for why I'm not compelled to put aside my book to go watch movies by myself.

Favorite writers: Sir Terry Pratchett, Nick Harkaway, Patrick Rothfuss, Haruki Murakami, David Mitchell.

The books that have me laugh out loud in public transfer: Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.
Next on my reading list: When We were Orphans by Kazuo Ishiguro

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Organizing an outdoor summer festival. I have yet to do something that turned out more rewarding. The prep-work done with a small team of enthusiastic, sweet-natured people played a big part in that. It was a challenging experience that taught each of us a lesson and gave us new things to draw strength from. In the end we spend 5 days under the summer-sky with about 60 people (some of them friends prior to- and many of them friends after-) Workshops, hikes and swimming by day, fire, song and starlight by night. Seeing these people open-up, connect, laugh, dance, sing, cry, play and grow has been a treat.

A ready laugh, a contemplative and open mind, a laid back attitude, willingness to help out with whatever needs to be done around your home and healthy gluten-free and sugar-free cooking to bring to your table. Someone to dance with in your living-room, to help you break-in your walking shoes and share in comfortable silences and conversations till (and not limited to) deep into the night. Also; someone to keep your cat company when you're out ( or in, seriously, I might just be in it for the cats).
