About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Fulfilling Matthew 25:40 to the best of my ability
ABOUT ME
Hmmm... hate these things, truth tell. Reminds me of my brief foray into on line dating. Blech.
I'm a committed follower of Jesus & passionate about shaping God's Kindom here on earth by helping to bring love to some of the most marginalized people in the world. In Matthew 8:20 Jesus essentially tells a man who is asking to follow him that he is homeless. When I realized that, I immediately started serving the homeless through a grassroots (& kind of messy) organization called Lovebags. www.lovebags.org.
When I'm not working or out on the streets, I love to read, am addicted to sudoku & SCUBA diving- warm water only, please!
PHILOSOPHY
Summed up in 2 quotes from a promenant Biblical scholar, NT Wright:
"Jesus is Lord & Ceasar isn't!"
"Heaven is important but it's not the end of the world."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just starting out with CS so I'm really in the exploratory stages. I've been opening my home to dive buddies from around the world for several years. I've met some of the most amazing people & shared some fantastic experiences.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with many people, mostly in my younger years, whom I really did not know but not through CS, of course. There have been times that complete strangers have taken me into their homes. I try to pass that on to others.
Interests
Diving, reading, historical biblical studies, & hanging out with small groups of friends.
- walking
- reading
- sudoku
- scuba diving
Music, Movies, and Books
Books- All things NT Wright- currently reading "The Resurrection of the Son of God." Books are my life addiction & my reading tastes range all over the place.
Music- these days it's primarily Christian- Switchfoot, Casting Crowns, Ross King, to name a few but my iPod has Norah Jones, Wicked, Gordon Bok (who?), Simon & Garfunkel, Mary Chapin Carpenter, & the Cure.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walking the battlefield of Hastings was something that I have wanted to do since I was about 8 years old. I decided when I turned 50 that I was going to do that before I turned 51 & I made it with 3 days to spare!
Teach, Learn, Share
My experience with hosting & visiting has taught me how important it is to respect & appreciate the people that I am with.
