Sobre mí

Hello! My name is Mary Clement and I'm from Ireland. I'm currently living in Glasgow, Scotland to attend university. I'm studying English Literature and Film and I'm only now realising that it's not what I want to do with my life. Oops. I don't know what my purpose is yet, but I know I want to travel and see all there is to see on this earth and feel all there is to feel. I've lived in rural Ireland all my life and I feel like it's time to fly the nest, take a risk, and explore what the world has to offer.

I'm the youngest of a family of 11 children and I have 20 nieces and nephews in total, soon to be 21! I love cinema, books, the seaside and I'm a bit of a thrill-seeker.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I want to couchsurf because I would love to experience the beauty of new cultures, make friends and truly find my place in the world. I'm always interested in hearing new stories, tasting new foods and having good fun with new people. I think it's imperative that I broaden my view on the world, it's cultures and it's people while I'm still young so I can be a better adult (am I already an adult? I certainly don't feel like one).

Intereses

Where I grew up in Ireland is right on the coast, surrounded by the most beautiful beaches so I'm a big fan of the seaside and watersports, especially kayaking and canoeing. I love reading, writing, drawing, watching films and plays and taking pictures.

My family are pretty sporty and competitive so I'm always up for a game of soccer, though I'm really not very good. However, I am good at table-tennis, most card games and I am reigning Scrabble & Bananagrams champion at home.

Música, películas y libros

I don't know where to begin when it comes to my favourite music! I have very eclectic tastes, from Arcade Fire & Fleetwood Mac to Frank Sinatra & Tchaikovsky. My favourite books are To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, The Humans by Matt Haig and Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. As far as films go, I'll watch anything, I am a film student after all.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I skydived once. Was so terrified I almost wet my pants.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'm down to learn anything you can teach me. I would love to be immersed in your culture and hear your stories, learn your language, come to understand your beliefs and values. No two people are the same so I'm looking forward to meeting a variety of wonderful souls and sharing a piece of my life and homeland with them.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I'd be happy to teach you some Irish phrases, folk songs, and talk about my culture and family with you. As for Irish cuisine, I am afraid I am a disaster in the kitchen. Although, I can make a good cheesecake!
