About Me

I hail from a small corner of Canada outside Toronto, Ontario but at 11 years old moved to the opposite corner of the United States, near Seattle. I'm a lover of all things NW mountain bum: ie. walking, biking, hiking and skiing, I also love cities, cultural exploration and connecting with people. My favourite moments are when those worlds intersect in the form of new adventures with new people - sometimes in the form of food, new hikes, or jamming with new friends and music.

In my work-life, I recently left the world of cognitive neuropsychiatry research in Vancouver in pursuit of working in the non-profit field. I love talking about work, learning, science fiction and film. I can't wait to meet you, learn new things, and see your city through your eyes!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Though I am new to the couchsurfing website, I am not a newbie to the concept!

I've found that a) I love traveling on my own but b) the best experiences are shared. ThusI have found in my past travels that connecting with individuals in a community based on the generosity of hosting is the perfect travelling solution. While I have been old-skool "couchsurfing" from Nicaragua to Southern France and places in between, I only recently heard of this website that connects all us couchsurfers together. I am hoping to find similar enriching experiences to my past experiences being hosted and hosting, and hope to reciprocate when I am next able! So please don't be turned away by my lack of references! Others I know have used the service to find places to stay and ended up leaving with a rich taste for the cities they stayed (or moving there) and many new friends. I hope to be a CS convert too. So if you're down to break bread with me and share your space, I promise I will only enter with the utmost respect for you and your space, and do my best to leave with a new friend :)

Though I don't ask for much attention (and certainly nobody to clean up after me, I've been on the receiving end of that unfortunate business), I intend to meet you and cook you a meal as a thank you! So if that is of interest to you then please send me a message!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Always searching for the next amazing thing I can do :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Cooking, language, bracelet-making...you name it! If I can do it (or try to do it), I am more than happy to teach it! I have taught children as young as 4 to dance, and friends as old as 80 to make bracelets (not very successfully mind you...), so never worry about testing my patience ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A love of nature, cooking, music! But most of all, I find that sharing gratitude over a meal is a deep blessing. So if you are interested, I would appreciate the ability to show my appreciation for your generosity as my host by cooking you anything you want!

And of course, I'm not afraid to share each other's company! Just let me know if you have time to hang out, and I will definitely factor that into my plans no matter where I am :) I look forward to meeting you fellow CS-ers!
