About Me

I am married with Koen from Leuven/Belgium, mother of three wonderful girls. I live in Liège/Belgium because of my family and I work in Greece. I teach New Greek language and culture to international students. So every Sunday I have to fly from Charleroi to Thessaloniki. I use to teach on Monday and on Tuesday and then I have to fly back to Belgium. Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday I am able to be again with my family. I do it throughout the academic year. I think that it is not very usual but it’s very exciting. And in fact it is not as hard as it seems… Bevor Belgium, I lived several years in Germany (Berlin & Hamburg, where I did a part of my studies, I worked and I met my husband), 2 years in France (Pau & Caen, where my first daughter was born) and of course more than 25 years in Greece (Volos, Thessaloniki, Athens, where I did several studies, I worked as a teacher for New Greek in several places and where my two younger daughters were born).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In August 2016 I plan with my 3 children a 30-day-interrail-travel in about 12 countries of Central & Eastern Europe and Balkan. I already have done twice interrail in Western and Northern Europe and it was an unforgettable experience. This time, firstly I thought that our travel shout be a great opportunity to get some knowledge about history and geography of the places we would like to visit. But then I realized that the initial travel planning was missing the most important element: getting some knowledge about everyday life of common people. I thought I could cover this initial travel planning’ gap using couchsurfing.
