About Me

I'm currently a university student on exchange in Edinburgh. So far, I've lived in two different countries, and have a huge desire to travel, meet people, and learn about different cultures first-hand. I'm looking forward to traveling to other parts of Europe in April, and think that couchsurfing will be the best way to make the most out of it (I've heard lots of positive reviews/stories and can't wait to try it out myself).

Main hobbies: sipping coffee in the morning in local cafés (Europe has definitely changed my perspective on the North American Starbucks culture!), dog-spotting, finding the best sunset-watching spots

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people who are locals, hear their perspective on the city and participate in a community that desires to show hospitality to strangers.

I'm also really enthusiastic about languages - so far I speak English, French, and a bit of Spanish, and am always looking for opportunities to (attempt) to converse in a new language!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: My favourite genre is Indie (Morningsiders, Vance Joy, The Wombats, Bon Iver, alt-J, Local Natives, Lorde, The Head and the Heart, Petit Biscuit, etc.) but I love most music, and am always open to discovering more artists/songs/Spotify playlists.

Books: Preference for non-fiction, particularly psychology books that open my mind (no pun intended, ha) to why humans think, learn, and function the way that we do. The latest one I read was 'Stumbling Upon Happiness' by Daniel Gilbert, highly recommend.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On my first day that I arrived in Edinburgh for my semester-long exchange, I managed to walk 45,000 steps (31 km)! My favourite way to see a new place is by foot - I think it's the best way to see a new place and take in a new culture, and I'm always up for a good stroll/hike/wander.

(Well I guess something a little more "amazing" was that time I witnessed two male kangaroos fighting while I was surfing on a beach in Sydney, Australia... but that's a story to share in person!)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would be more than happy to cook a meal (something Canadian or Australian themed if you like!).

Countries I’ve Visited

England, Fiji, France, Scotland, United States
