ABOUT ME

We are really, really great friends who get along with everyone who is just as kind and fun-loving as we are. We love traveling to new places and meeting wonderful people.
Mary is 27 years old and from California. Got a Masters in Geography, and a Bachelors in both Geography and Environmental Science & Policy. Loves to travel and be in new places and meeting different, fun-loving, sincere people. Enjoys good wine and being in the company of great friends.
Kelly is 25 years old and from California. Got a Bachelors in Environmental Science & Policy and is currently a naturalist. Loves to travel, have fun, karaoke, and bake cupcakes!

PHILOSOPHY

We support ourselves with jobs that we like/enjoy, so we can have the time and money to do the things that we love; like traveling, being with friends, and having fun with new people in new places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Trying out couchsurfing to promote to friends and family. We do not mind washing dishes, helping out with food or cooking when we couchsurf, and we would appreciate others to do the same. We are just grateful to experience couchsurfing. Thank you!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have friends who have hosted and surfed. Mary has stayed on the couch of an awesome CS host for 3 nights in Austin, Texas. Both Mary and Kelly have been hosted for 2 nights in Paris, France in August 2011! :) So far, CS is an amazing experience and network that deserves bragging rights !

Interests

Mary is a social drinker and enjoys various nightlifes and bars, being active, and having good discussions with different people. Mary also enjoys having maps around and randomly getting lost to find her way back with a map. What's this about navigation systems? Lazy!
Kelly loves spending time with her friends, drinking coffee and having a good time. I love food and trying new kinds of food!

Music, Movies, and Books

Mary loves movies by Christopher Nolan, Bryan Singer, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and romantic comedies. Constantly has Grey's Anatomy episodes in the background at home while doing chores. She reads geographic articles and tries to stay up to date with the news. Enjoys all music, except for heavy metal... i mean what is it even about?!
Kelly's favorite movie: Breakfast at Tiffany's. Favorite book: Alice in Wonderland. Favorite music: too many to name!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mary has seen:
- Two bears wrestling in a meadow at Yosemite National Park
- A mama sea otter nursing her pup in Morro Bay, California (Kelly has seen as well)
- Summer Solstice (solar alignment) at Anasazi Ruins in Chaco Canyon
- Participate and volunteer at American Indian ceremonies and support their causes to protect their lands in northern California and the McCloud River
- Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Guatemala and Peru
- Drank natural spring water from the headwaters of the Sacramento River in California
- Drank Vodka and Tequila (along with Kelly) with owners of various bars in Denver, Colorado
- White water rafted in Costa Rica on the Pacuare River (one of top 5 in the world) as well as in Peru on the Urubamba river
- Ziplined through the lush canopy of Monteverde forest in Costa Rica
- Monkeys "attacked" Mary in Costa Rica because she accidently blinded one with her camera flash
- Backpacked for 7 days through the rugged Sierra Mountains in the Mammoth Lakes, California area.
- Seen the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh, both prominent Buddhists, present their teachings

Kelly likes to talk about teaching and learning about new subjects and environments.
