About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet inspired and inspirational individuals. To discover new worlds. To explore.

ABOUT ME

I plan on spending my life traveling, carrying only any skills that I've gained from becoming a nurse and, eventually, a nurse practitioner. With the ideal to make health accessible, the same way that food is made accessible through community feeds. I believe in communities, and in people helping each other by using whatever skills they may have. Everyone is an artist, and whatever endeavors we find ourselves engrossed is our art. Everyone may inhabit a different world, but those worlds overlap, and when I speak to you, I come closer to understanding a foreign land. I want to learn from you, but I don't simply want to take. I want to share with you, share whatever I have at the moment.

I'm so excited to be hosting on a more regular basis! If you'd like to send me a request, please show me that you've read my profile by including the words: HELL YEAH in the subject line. All caps.

"If mankind shared the tractor it could be loved, but when the tractor is owned by one man it is like a tank intimidating people. When this family meets another family on the highway, they share their stories of loss. "This is the zygote. For here 'I lost my land' is changed; a cell is split and from its splitting grows the thing you hate - 'We lost our land.'" They not only share a hatred, but they share their resources. This is the beginning of the transformation of isolated individuals into a powerful, unified group with a cause. If the owners could understand this, they could preserve themselves, but "the quality of owning freezes you forever into 'I,' and cuts you off forever from the 'we'."
-John Steinbeck, the Grapes of Wrath

PHILOSOPHY

I have been granted unlimited opportunities in my short existence on this earth, and circumstances allow me to do basically whatever I want to do. I want to interact with people on a genuine level and be present for them. I want to address the needs of the beautiful people I am constantly surrounded by.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I attempt to open my world to the people around me--I want to share my living space, any food, any "education" and knowledge, and any skills I have with you or anyone else you know. I want to contribute to this enormous movement--couchsurfing, along with picking people up when hitchhiking, giving away as much food as I have--which can create the opportunity for infinite, alternative forms of existence for as many as possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've surfed in Peru and Virginia. I've hosted in New Brunswick. I've had incredible experiences...couchsurfers are a unique kind of folk, and I can't get enough.

Interests

anarchism and other various isms, dissecting capitalism, learning guitar, dabbling in various art media, cooking ethnic vegetarian foods, baking vegan food, medicinal plants, the body and it's incredible ways, organic and local farming, an organic lifestyle, reducing my global footprint, urban exploration, abandoned buildings, viaducts, steam tunnels, tunnels in general are my favorite, winter, snow, but summer and coconut trees and mangoes and hundreds of different kinds of bananas....AND I love biking. I'm planning a long bike journey from NJ to NOLA...

Music, Movies, and Books

The books that have influenced me the most are basically all fiction--Catch 22, by Joseph Heller, The World According to Garp, by John Irving, The Dharma Bums, by Jack Kerouac.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have slept on an abandoned landfill only to wake up to the Bay and explore an island full of 16 feet high sculptures, wooden canvases, and bicycle wheel cities.

Biked from NJ to Nashville, and then later from Pittsburgh to DC

And I'm a nurse! Which I think is a pretty amazing profession to be a part of. I really love my work.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a nurse! and I love it. I'm always convincing people how great being a nurse is, so if you have questions about that, I can talk about it! I don't like to diagnose friends/give lots of medical advice outside of the hospital, but I can talk to you about different body/disease processes. I've run for a good part of my life, so I share some tips on running. I've recently gotten into yoga and enjoy practicing it, but can't say I'm very good/advanced. I LOVE to cook and bake and am more experienced with vegan and Indian cooking! I started taking Arabic classes this year and would love love love someone to practice with/teach me more!!
