Couchsurfing is a good way to really know a country. I love meeting new people and getting to know more about the place I'm staying. You get a lot of helpful advice you can't find in the travel books and you get to experience the place as it really is - not just the touristy stuff.

It's difficult to miss a place, if you think about it, you really miss people, sensations, feelings... but not places. With couchsurfing you just don't "see" places, you live it.
