ABOUT ME

I am a introvert looking for ways to engage with a mostly extroverted world (or so it seems!)in order to learn more, experience more, and perhaps make a positive contribution in some large or small way.

I was in medical school in my early 20's and while I loved the academic side of it, I couldn't see myself doing it as a career. I dropped out after 2nd year and felt a great deal of angst over that decision, not knowing at the time that I was not at all alone in having no idea, at aged 22, what I wanted to do! So I got married, had 3 children, did 1st and 2nd year of Engineering, got divorced, and quit Engineering after I got severely depressed --- probably from burnout. Getting the job with Canada Post was a real turning point for me because it was relatively easy (at least compared to Engineering school! LOL) and I liked working outside. I began to see how much better life can be with less stress! Since that time I have been in 2 serious relationships but am now happily single. I am realizing how stifled I was in my last relationship and how much I need laughter and learning in my life. I am working hard to accept myself as I am (some people claim I'm an OK person! LOL)so I can accept others as they are. I like running, cycling, and most other outdoor activities. I also swim and once applied to the Guinness World Records people to attempt a record for longest time treading water!
(they considered it but then turned me down with no explanation. Waa!) I like Scrabble, thrift store treasure hunting, making jewelry, endurance contests (I've been in 2 marathons), and drinking coffee. I also like spending time with anybody under 30 because of their energy and enthusiasm for life and their lack of cynicism.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace and drank tea with HRH and Prince Phillip in July 1996.
