ABOUT ME

I like excellent food, strong drinks, good grammar, and terrible music. I will try anything once. I pretend to be an epicurean, but I eat Nutella straight from the jar and call it dinner. If it's beautiful, I want to see it. If it's not wildly imprudent, I'll do it (and sometimes even still). If it's weird, scientific, trivial, bizarre, mind-blowing, or even mildly intriguing, I want to know it. I will never be done learning.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to Couchsurfing, but I want to try it out, get to know people, and get around the globe.

Interests

Wine, whiskey, witty banter, philosophy, history, science, literature, good books, good food, good cooking, coffee and cigarettes, soccer, card games, board games, anywhere up high or anything that goes fast, hiking, biking, boating, all things in, on, or near water.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all fiction. I love The Brothers Karamozov and The Sex Lives of Cannibals, Brideshead Revisited, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, anything by P. G. Wodehouse, Oscar Wilde, or Christopher Moore. Science fiction and fantasy are my guilty pleasures, and I read poetry because I wish I understood it better.

My taste in movies and music is eclectic. Movies should be entertaining or thought provoking (preferably both), and music should be pleasant. I'm easy to please.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent an afternoon in the slums of Mumbai, watching everyday life. I don't have the words for it, other than it was so deeply human: it was ordinary and beautiful, painful and cheerful, lively and contented existence.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook you a decent meal and I can teach you nerdy card and board games. I have bits of trivia tucked away that jump out at unexpected intervals.
