About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the world- be it my own backyard or a distant place.

ABOUT ME

I like to enjoy different experiences and enjoy the company of interesting people.

I also like rocks, snow, and mountains, and find myself surrounded by them a lot. Climbing and skiing are pretty cool.

I am all about traveling and I 100% believe that you can only experience a place if you get to meet and know the people there. Couchsurfing allows one to really get to know a place, from the locals that understand it best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surf and when I am home/stationary enough to host someone, I would love to. I just moved to Los Angeles and would love to show people around this awesome city. Whether someone just wants some advice about what to do or wants to explore LA with me, I'm always down.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed throughout the US and Europe. I have always had amazing experiences!

Interests

The outdoors (cliche enough?), including backpacking, climbing, skiing, biking, hiking, etc. I always find an excuse to be outside.

I have taken this interest as far as I can, as I now study the outdoors in graduate school. I am in a geology program and find myself constantly in different mountain ranges.

I also love exploring cities and urban areas. It's even great to find little nooks and crannies of "the outdoors" in city sprawls (like LA).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

--The genuine generosity of people has always amazed me. Just by starting a simple conversation, I have had many different people give me a place to stay, a kitchen to cook in, and amazing stories.

--The hospitality principle of Mongolian nomads really wowed me. While travelling across the land, one can always stop at a locals yurt, and they will invite you in for tea, some food, and general conversation (sometimes that doesn't go beyond some hand gestures for someone like me who doesn't speak Mongolian). If you're cold, they'll warm you up. Thirsty? grab some water. While we were camped out, travelers would come up to our tent. At first we were confused, as we had no idea why people were standing outside of our tents, but we picked up on the tradition: invited them into our different-than-a-yurt tent, gave everyone pieces of a granola bar, and just smiled around at people. They smiled back and it was a great experience. Everyone was content for some general company. If only such hospitality, which is ingrained in their culture and transcends to anyone else in the area, could be everywhere.
