About Me

Hello there, Mati here! I am an Australian citizen (originally from Argentina) returning to down under after travelling and studying for 6 years in Europe.

At the age of 25, after I finished my nursing studies at the Argentinian Red Cross, I moved permanently to Australia. Also, I studied Building Design and I got an incomplete Master's degree in Architecture. I am a creative person interested in understanding how buildings represent/shape people's life.
At the age of 37 I decided to travel around the EU and ended up living and working for 3 years in The Netherlands.

I worked as a nurse at the RBWH in Brisbane for 11 years and worked as an architectural drafter for 5 in Australia and overseas. By living and working in 3 countries, I got the opportunity to meet people from all sorts of backgrounds and in different stages of life. During my journey as a nurse, I learnt to be open, caring, tolerant and respectful. Specially when it's about relating to people. I do respect personal needs and appreciate good communication skills.

In regard to my personal preferences, I like people who are honest, respectful, mindful and straight forward. I don't mind where you come from or what you believe as long as you respect my preferences and believes. At the end, we all live in one world. Adding to this, most of my friends come from different countries but we just have common interests.
I am flexible, happy with little, clean, adaptable and I respect boundaries as I like people who respect mine. Please, if you are hosting me and you are a man, please wear something. While I am around, I am not keen to see your golf game... Otherwise I will have a sour-face 😐 and I don't use Couchsurfing as a dating website.
I love to spend time with friends laughing, travelling, surfing or doing any outdoor activity. I enjoy water sports a lot and believe that healthy eating makes life easier. I also enjoy long conversations with friends, singing, going out for a drink, dancing and catch ups.
My healthy habits: I don't smoke, I don't drink (maybe 2 when I am socialising), I go to the gym and I try to be positive even when things don't go well. I don't have allergies and I like pets as long as they don't sleep where I am sleeping.
I try to return favours when is possible and I believe that a fair deal is important to keep a good relationship.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sharing is caring! Sharing a roof from someone who doesn't know me it's a very generous gesture and only those who cares about travellers will do. I am very thankful for people who open their homes to me.
Also, I think it's a great way to meet people and find those who are aligned with my values and what's important for me in life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kept my mouth shut and listen without interrupting someone.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love the Landmark Education programs (http://www.landmarkworldwide.com) and volunteer in their events.
I also enjoy learning languages. I spent many holidays in Brasil and I got Italian background so I understand Portuguese and Italian. I can speak a little bit of them. I got basic French and I use english for my every day living since 2001. I can teach you Spanish as I am a fluent Spanish speaker.
I can share food or a bottle if you drink.
