Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm trying to meet new people and fellow travelers. I like to experience and learn about new cultures and talking with other people is a great way to accomplish that. Although I like seeing all of the typical tourist attractions and taking pictures, I've found in the last year that my favorite travelling memories are often just talking with other travelers. I also find out about new things to do from them.

Interests

I like travelling and seeing new places every time I travel. I try to learn as much as I can about places I travel to. I'm very interested in Asia both professionally and personally. So far I've only been to Turkey, Thailand, China, Singapore, Malaysia Laos and Sri Lanka, India and Vietnam . But I'd like to travel more in the future. Mongolia and Japan both sound very interesting.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like reading, listening to music, and watching movies, but I've always hated trying to rank my experiences according to what I enjoyed the most, more, less, and the least. I used to put specific music, movies, and books in this square just to humor the website, but I would always get requests from people saying how they like that music, movie, or book too. It always seemed so forced. I'm on couchsurfing to meet people not like me, not to meet people that have read the same books, or listen to the same music, or watch the same movies as me. You don't have to pull some specific detail out of my profile to put in your request just to prove to me you've read it. I read every request I get and usually respond as promptly as I can. I don't get enough requests to make that difficult.
