About Me

Hi there :),

currently I am on a six-months international student exchange program, doing research/internship at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Back in Croatia, I am graduate student in Electrical Engineering.

I am really easy going and tidy person. I hate when people are fighting and I like to resolve things calmly. I appreciate honesty. I enjoy spending time with other people and meeting new friends.

I try to be involved in a community. As a member of different student associations I was part of all sorts of projects. I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge with other people.

I love dogs and cats and they love me. And yes, if I see some stray animal in the street I will most likely stop to greet and pet it. I have a cat and a dog back home, can't wait to see them again. We Skype regularly :D.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This is my first time in the US, and I want to take complete advantage of this unique opportunity. I think I would never forgive myself if I don't see, try and learn as much as I can while I am here.

While I was traveling in Europe I didn't have a need for couchsurfing. But I heard about CS from many people, and I thought I should give it a try.

When I first joined CS I thought this is great opportunity to meet "local" people and make new friends, and to get cheap accommodation is just a bonus. I really didn't know CS was free, I was really surprised when I found out.

So, CS for me is mostly about meeting interesting people, and gaining new experience while sharing mine. What I want of the CS is to meet people who would like to hang out and show me around, because in my next few travels I will be alone and I would appreciate some company.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big fan of the Harry Potter series. I also enjoyed Hunger Games and Divergent books very much. I've red first two books of a Song of Ice and Fire series and I am huge fan of the Game of Thrones show.

I really enjoy watching movies, especially SFs (and similar) and profound movies or movies with plot twist.

I don't listen music much, but I can tell you that I LOVE Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Usually I spend my free time watching different shows from Friends to Breaking Bad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think that I am doing most amazing thing in my life right now. When I applied for a international student exchange program I thought I would do my two-months internship somewhere in Europe, close to home.

But, everything turned out completely different from what I have expected. I got offer for doing internship in Japan, Thailand or in the US. I choose internship in the US. After submitting all my papers they offered me six-months internship, and I accepted without thinking it through too much.

After that my life turned up-side down. I had to pause my year in college. I traveled alone for the first time, in fact I traveled by plane for the first time. I had to leave my family, boyfriend and friends for a six months. This is my first time living "by myself", I had to start my life from the scratch here. I am now living with a host family which I first met when I got here. As you can see, a lots of "firsts".

This experience thought me a lot. I proved myself that I am strong and independent person. Also, I met bunch of new interesting people who become my close friends. The most important thing is that I have learned a lot about myself here and have to adapt quickly.

I think this was/is the biggest adventure in my life so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk about Croatian culture or even teach you a little bit of Croatian, or how to cook some Croatian food.

When I visit some city I like to learn about it's history and traditions. If you would like to become tour guide/counselor for couple of days even better.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a really good listener, and I like to help others if I can.

If you decide to visit beautiful Croatia one day (you know where part of the Game of Thrones was filmed), maybe I can return a favor :).

Countries I’ve Visited
