About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I will high five the world...

ABOUT ME

I'm usually that stranger that will wave and say hello to you while walking down the street.

I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam and went to college in Virginia. After graduating in 2008, I moved to Washington, DC where I did media and policy work for the delegate from Guam to the U.S. House of Representatives.

After three years I realized that there was more to life than a cubicle and unnecessary stress. I quit my job in June of 2011 and took an apprenticeship on a small goat farm in Charlottesville, Virginia. For six months I cared for 35 goats, learned to make goat cheese, and replaced my two-piece suit with jeans and a white t-shirt. I haven't looked back since that time, and I will be devoting the next year to traveling, giving back to my community, and enjoying our amazing world.

I just completed the Camino de Santiago Compostela in Spain. My girlfriend, another friend from Guam, and I all walked from France to the northwest tip of Spain - a total of 950 kilometers. Truly one of the best experiences of my life

For the past year I've been fortunate to work as a cidermaker in Richmond, Virginia making top-quality hard apple cider. I'm leaving to graduate school in Seattle, and I'm looking forward to couchsurfing along the way!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that there's more to life than a 9-5 and that people are genuinely good at heart.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been fortunate enough to have met amazing Couchsurfers in the Philippines, Korea, Guam, and the U.S., and each time I have been blown away with the kindness and generosity of my hosts. Couchsurfers add a whole new dimension and authenticity to traveling that can't be found anyway else.

Interests

I'm a big fan of spontaneous adventures and pretty much anything outdoors - hiking, camping, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, fishing...you get the idea. I am also obsessed with maximizing frequent flier miles and budget travel.

I am a huge fan of food. My hierarchy of deliciousness would be: Guam food, Korean, Filipino, Japanese, and everything else. Meat would be the umbrella of deliciousness.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've always been terrible at listing these off the top of my head - but on my playlist I keep shuffling through Matisyahu, SOJA, and Brett Dennen. My moonlighting gig would also involve karaoke to Katy Perry.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In high school I was on an outrigger canoe team. During practice one morning we went out on an open ocean run during sunrise. In one practice we saw a rainbow, a manta ray, a green sea turtle, and had pod of dolphins follow our boat. Amazing.
