Overview
About Me
Born and raised in Colombia. Moved to China in 2014 for a six-month internship, but became so in love with the country that decided to stay! I first worked as a journalist for an independent news outlet, writing different stories about China and East Asia for Latin America. And for the past year I've been working for China Today, a Chinese state-sanctioned magazine, as an editor and reporter for the Spanish department.
As a journalist I've become a pretty adventurous person, and what I like the most about my line of work is that every day can be a new story, a new face or a new challenge. I love to travel, read, write, dance (especially salsa), party, play guitar, go on a casual stroll to take pictures or just sit down at a random spot to drink a beer (or 10) and have a worthwhile conversation. I hate to see grammar mistakes and I get frustrated when I wash a strainer. Otherwise, I'm good to go ;).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Apart from the obvious monetary issue, I believe that CS is one of the best ways to meet amazing people, exchange cultures, and make friends in every corner of the world, which is something I definitely look forward to. As a host, I've also discovered that people that have stayed with me have had much richer experiences than those staying at a hotel or a hostel. I've always tried to take my guests to "hidden gems" around the city and make them live experiences they would never have as "normal" tourists, things only a true local is capable of. I look forward to having the same experience as a CS.

Music, Movies, and Books
I appreciate almost every kind of music (I'm kind of a musician myself), but I believe there's a place and a time for each genre. Favorite movies are probably The Shawshank Redemption, Hannibal and Spotlight. A couple of years ago, traveling around Europe, sometimes I'd rather stay at the hotel finishing reading Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy than actually going out and getting to know the city...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cheating death, but that's a story I rather tell you in person.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to share/teach everything I know -Spanish, writing, history, guitar playing, etc.- with anyone who is really willing to learn.
