CURRENT MISSION
.....to boldy go
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Bakersfield California, it was a 90s affair highlighted by Catholic school, oil derricks, country music, immigrants and Korn. I was happy to leave and spent my early 20s in Long Beach California. I later moved to Humboldt County to complete my B.S. in Political Science. This is where I discovered the CS community. Numerous travellers surfed my couch from 2008-2011. The experiences gained during this time have helped define my character. I moved to Portland Oregon to reinvigorate my love for indoor culture and city scapes. While here I practiced social and environmental activism while enjoying the music and art scene. My last responsibility has been to the Marriage Equality Ballot Initiative. Next is grad school and the pursuit of art with a return to California.
I like to research, discuss philosophical issues and observe the human behavior. For the most part...this is done in libraries, cafes, forests, venues, dance floors, coasts, cars and bars...sometimes your living room! I am a spontaneous, slightly witty, a geek, informed and aware kinda soul who is also practical, sincere and sometimes over the top. I do blend in well in a crowd and can enjoy your neighborhood bar scene to elegant nights in sophisticated places. I care to make an advantageous impact upon the world I inhabit and will always seek to make your time spent with me easy and enjoyable. My future goals, present activity and dispositions are geared toward this gaol.
On the moment to moment, I enjoy getting to know you and how you relate to the world, walking around the neighborhood, listening to live music and having great food and drink and staying informed on what happens locally.
P.S. I love space (as in above the atmosphere).
PHILOSOPHY
A desire to live life with a purpose, balance work and play, be harmonious with the Earth, always be conscious of others.
...and also shake it up a bit from time to time!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
(2014) Surfing! During my stay in Arcata I hosted about 100+ souls not all are related to the CS community and I was always jealous of the look on their faces when I toured them around the community. I would like to experience this in March. I will then relocate permanently in California So glad to have this network, it really is a brilliant idea - an ancient one made applicable to modern times. I think it is the best way to travel - there are so many amazing people the world over!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
(2008) Thanks to all of our hosts in Europe (and a small bit of Asia) - you truly made our trip unforgettable. And because of that, all are welcome at our place!
(2009) Obama Inauguration and Manhattan.
(2009) Interstate 40 Trek to Norman Oklahoma and Tampa/St. Petersburg Florida Halloween Camp Out
(2010) Couchsurfing in Oakland California too!
(2011) Most recent surfing moment was in Crystal City Maryland while attending a climate action convention in DC. Walked most days across the Potomac River in both directions.

Teach, Learn, Share
I will be keeping this strictly about CSing around the globe but also about my current trek:
1.) Pack as lightly as possible
2.) Use rules of sustainability for pretty much everything
3.) Bring wine and/or chocolate to the door of new hosts
...These are the rules I have made for myself after traveling around Europe and Turkey last(2008) summer.
For my travels to DC during the Inauguration, I intend to first and foremost have an adventure involving the CS community and the hosts who would like to meet me and have an adventure (Mission Accomplished). On my trek across the 40 heading to Tampa Bay, I experienced everything from Arizona State troopers profiling me to reexamining the decade I grew up in by visiting the Clinton Library, I also learned that CSing is a bit radical for some and all together needed in our nation just like many other things from regions of our country. I would like to see more requests from folks radically different than I! I shall return the favor.
