About Me

I'm a very easygoing guy who loves to engage in a conversation with as many different people as possible. The world and its massive diversity incite me to go out and gather new experiences, especially through unconventional, alternative and local manners.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Nowadays, travelling almost can't be disconnected from its original colonial roots, by which a traveller becomes someone that arrives somewhere, gets what he/she wants with disregard for local culture and leaves that place with the same contempt towards the different with which he/she arrived. This is commonplace mostly during North-South encounters when usually colonialism heritage is most vivid, so I try to engage with unfamiliar and new places differently.

I look forward to developing a two-way relationship between my background and the one derived from the culture, customs and general social environment of my travel destination. Speaking with locals, learning their own ways, paths and experiences, finding the value that being in relation to something different can provide to one's self-understanding is crucial for me during a trip, much more than it's going to a tourist spot.

The unconventional, alternative (compared to the usual tourist activities) and local journeys are the ones that attract me the most, and I find Couchsurfing a great way to disrupt the common one-way relation most tourists reproduce when travelling.
