ABOUT ME
Hello fellow couchsurfer! My name is Mathias Lykke, and I'm a 19-year-old danish high school from a small city in Northern Denmark. When I was 16 years old, I spent a year as an exchange student in Salvador, Brazil, and ever since coming back from such a personally, socially, academically and linguistically challenging year, I've been addicted to the idea of travelling the entire globe. So because I have limited financial opportunities, the concept of CouchSurfing has got me hooked!
PHILOSOPHY
I feel that I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel the world, and this is what I think everybody like me should appreciate, because there are millions of people who are nowhere near as fortunate as me. I always tell myself to enjoy the small things, some sort of 'carpe diem', you know? Life is short, and the possibilities are endless.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Honestly, I don't really understand this question!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Until this day, I have no CouchSurfing experience, but I'm leaving for three weeks of Interrail, so I'm hoping to gain some experience!
Interests
The main reason of me being on this site is one of my biggest interests: Travelling, experiencing what the world has to offer and creating new connections with wonderful people along the way. Aside from loving to travel, I love playing football and hanging out with my friends, and I'm also a very ambitious student.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like everything, actually. All genres of music, everything from rap over trap to classic rock. I enjoy watching all kinds of movies as well - everything from comedy to the occasional horror movie, and books? Well, I like reading about people's accomplishments, and I like reading all kinds of fiction as well.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I've ever done is definitely my year of exchange to Brazil. The experience of leaving everything I know and care about behing to go abroad and live with and go to school with a bunch of people whose language I - in the beginning - did not understand. Getting to know another culture made me gain a completely different perspective of morals and rights and wrongs, and I believe it's important to realize how divergent the world is in every aspect.
