Overview
About Me
I grew up in Western Siberia, studied applied math in Omsk State University, lived in Israel for several months while doing freelance consulting and moved to St. Petersburg to work in Yandex (while refusing to move to Moscow as it's too big and noisy city).
Now I'm writing software to research on Internet censorship around the world under The Tor Project umbrella. Sometimes I also play "Internet freedom clown" role speaking on some events on the topic. :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Seems, all of my friends who wanted to visit St. Petersburg have already done it. It's time to host some strangers!
Interests
I enjoy country-side cycling. I even got a Brevet Medal for completing a 200-kilometer cycling marathon in 2010. But I'm not a sportsman, cycling track bores me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've recently especially enjoyed some new Russian movies that are not criminal dramas and comedies. "Знаешь, мама, где я был?" and "Мешок без дна" are absolutely amazing movies, I recommend them to every Russian-speaking person.
"Комсомольск" is the Russian band of my Summer-2018. Their songs are made of memes!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2017 I've participated in a roundtable discussion on Anonymizers Law in Duma (Russian Parliament). It was super weird to speak as "a hacker" in the parliament.
