About Me

Hello everyone! I'm Matheus and I'm 24 years old, living in Porto Alegre, Brazil. I study Anthropology and have been working with native brazilian people for about one year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am very much interested on cultural and social exchanges. This year I have hosted people from Brazil, Peru, Uruguay and I am currently living with a colombian. To be able to speak (or try to) many languages at my own house is basically why I am here.

Interests

Well, I love anthropology, my field of studies, but I am also a huge football fan. I am vegetarian and I love to play the ukulele (I have an ukulele trio by the way!). I also like to play tennis and to stay the whole night trying to learn a language I know nothing about.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am fascinated by literature, specially from Uruguay and Brazil (Guimarães Rosa, Eduardo Galeano, Mario Benedetti...) and I am currently reading a german book "Zanzibar oder der letzte Grund" written by Alfred Andersch.
In terms of movie, my favorite directors are Emir Kusturica and Quentin Tarantino, however I am also a huge fan of french cinema and actors like Omar Sy, Audrey Tautou, Mélanie Laurent... but my favorite actor is hands down Cristoph Waltz.
I love bands like Bon Iver, José Gonzalez, Vance Joy, Vitor Ramil, Clueso, Seryn...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was almost arrested in the border between Estonia and Russia and I still have no idea why.

Also, I worked with guaranis (native brazilian people) in order to build a school in ther community, which was concluded in 2014.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Portuguese, Spanish, German and English... besides language, I can teach a bit about the ukulele, the instrument I play and about brazilian history and football history. I can also be a part of your football team if you have one!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Pretty much the same I said above. I have a 2 bedroom apartment, however I think that 4 people can stay there for a while without me having to buy another house.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bolivia, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, France, Italy, Latvia, Peru, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, Brazil, Germany
