About Me

[ENG]
Hello everyone, My name is Matheus Pedro. I'm 25 years old and live in Niterói. I had an other profile in couchsurfing years ago but I needed to quit receiving guest at my place because I didn't have time to enjoy it. I study marine engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, also, teach math classes for who are intending to go to college. My grandparents live with momma a week and other week with me. The family refused to send them to the nursing home.
Speaking about myself, I do like going to the beach on summer(or any weekend when the sun decides to shine a litte more) to drink beers and drinks with vodka. Seafood in general is my favourite lunch. I'm catholic and love my church. If you aren't involved in any religion or you just aren't catholic you won't be bothered or discriminated. Talking about literature (unfortunately I only readed consistently brazilian literature) and telling stories and making jokes are my hobbies with friends and probably also with you lol. Bring me a classic literary of your country, obviously if possible, and I'll be grateful. You do know that Brazil is the country of soccer. Read about 'Vasco da Gama' team and if you enjoy its history about fighting for browns and blacks to be allowed as soccer players in the years '10 and '20s let's go the São Januário stadium.
So, thanks for reading these mismatched informations about me and my life. Wish I could be more accurate and less wordy. Anyway, send me a text message if you're looking a place to stay next to Rio de Janeiro. It's important to know who you are and when you come. It's uncomfortable receiving guests who aren't interest in socializing with the community of locals, partying in 'rodas de samba' (samba music presentations), go to bars and looking after completely different things. There are other hosts who can be better than me in these cases.
My neighborhood is called 'Barreto'. It's next to the Rio-Niterói bridge. Remember, if you're programming visiting the Rio's city center you're next. But, if you're intendig visiting someone else, for example, in 'Barra da Tijuca' you're very far! Rio de Janeiro city is huge.

Quotes prefered:

“The way to love anything is to realize that it may be lost.”
― G.K. Chesterton

“Drink because you are happy, but never because you are miserable.”
― G.K. Chesterton, Heretics

"Se Deus enxergasse pobre.
Não me deixaria assim:
Dava no coração dela.
Um lugarzinho pra mim."
Lima Barreto

"Está morto: podemos elogiá-lo à vontade."
- Machado de Assis (it's a tremendous irony)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The same reasons of the majority of hosts. Looking after practicing my english skills, listening life stories from people who was raised in realities completely differents than mine and interact in general. Hanging around without locals, in my oponion, is forgeting a lot of nice places to visit and people among who you'll be introcuded and certanly accepted(I readed that in other country it doesn't work like that, in Brazil it does.) Wish someday visit France, the US and the UK. It'll become easier if I have friends who'd receive me to drink a coffee at least. Travelling alone worldwide for me is a nightmare.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in in high school, I studied in the brazilian navy's high school called 'Colégio Naval'. It's located in the city which has the most beautiful creek. Islands full of trees and a crystal water. See the natural beauties of Angra dos Reis was fantastic while at the boat we were sailing.
