Hello

My name's Mat, and i'm a 24 year old from Vancouver island, Canada. i'm a pretty easy going guy, who enjoys the outdoors, adventures, coffee, good conversation and a little mischeif sometimes.

I grew up in the woods and on the water of the Vancouver, spending the younger years sailing, skiing, camping, hiking, playing halo, and reading anything i could my hands on. I watched some Seinfeld too.
At 18 i moved to nearby Vancouver Island where i began a degree in environmental studies and geography. I love learning about people, and how they interact with their environment. School helped me figure alot of my personal values, like respect, non violence, and keeping an open mind.
I spend my summers working on a sailboat, and take folks out to see wildlife and explore the ocean.

I've since graduated from school (November 2015) and have embarked on a 6 month trip to see whats out there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The typical path of the tourist is boring, and expensive. I like getting to know new people, so i reckon surfing is an awesome way to make it work.

I don't watch a ton of movies but Wes Anderson rips. , also watched ex-machina a few months ago which was pretty good.

Some favourite novelas are The hobbit, 100 Years of Solitude, Brave New World, One river.
