About Me
Hello, I am Mathias. I learned to be a draftsman but quit my job to live my dream of travel and having the freedom to be here now. After meeting my love, Sarah, who is from California, on the other side of the world, we discovered mushroom farming in New Zealand. We traveled together for 3 years, also in Australia, Vietnam, the USA, and Germany. While traveling we did a lot of WWOOFing and volunteer/exchange stays. This was the best part of traveling, getting to know the people and really learning about new cultures and ways of livingl. At the moment we have been running a small mushroom farm since 2020 in Germany and have learned a lot about growing and running a business since then. We are now starting to teach people how they can grow their own mushrooms, which has also been a beautiful experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music with hang drums is wonderful. We enjoy music in general but are not playing so much ourselves. Although Sarah likes to join in on a chill jam session once in a while.
We are mostly reading books about permaculture, mushroooms, and wellnessy stuff.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 2021, I went to visit some friends in Portugal that we met on our travels in New Zealand. We came to spend a few weeks with them, helping to build natural water systems on their land and dig up loads of blackberries. After a few weeks of being there, we started to fall in love with the place and the community of people in the area. Wildly enough, after some pretty synchronistic experiences, we found a property! We just went to visit and left as landowners (well, nearly). We actually worked a ton to save and pay for the property throughout the next year, and now it is officially ours to look after. Thank you, Mr. Ramiro, you are literally the best!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Open minded conversation, shared laughter, funny stories... We are also always happy to talk about growing food, mushrooms, herbalism and homesteading topics. In general though we are happy, motivated and empathic people that like to meet new people and get along with many different crowds.
