ABOUT ME

We recently moved in in our new appartment after a couple of years back to Copenhagen after a year in Berlin and six months in the Middle East and are thus currently rediscovering the city while we try to keep track of our MA-studies.
So far we made the ground-breaking conclusion that we prefer the beautiful September autumn to the slushy and grey February winter. Which makes us not so very different from most people familiar with Northern European weather...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The reason we joined CS was that we wanted to meet local people where we travel and get their perspective on their country and their city. We are doing our best to keep our home open to people from around the globe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have stayed with very nice people in all of the Middle East and in Germany. Whether they've presented us to their mother's cooking and let us stay with their family, invited us on trips around the city, taken us out for beer or even lent us their car keys, everybody has always been welcoming and incredibly hospitable.

兴趣

We both enjoy traveling, photography, music, literature, movies, cooking, politics, the Middle East, snorkeling and scuba diving.

Mathias gets a kick from climbing and bouldering, whereas Maria prefers the more calming activities of yoga and throwing ceramics.

Mathias is very passionate about his specialization in Statistical Physics, but although he is the physicist and thus the one stereotypically most prone to nerdness, the ethnologist Maria is actually the real nerd among us and seems to see a cultural construction wherever she looks.

Reading: Trying to keep up with the world in newspapers and magazines while still having time to read great novels. Reading is wonderful!

Favorite books include Crime & Punishment, 100 Years of Solitude, Kafka on the Beach, On Beauty, Lolita, What I Loved, The Old Man and the Sea and Out Stealing Horses, but there are so many to be mentioned...

In music favorites are everything from Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan over Cat Power and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to Gorillaz, Fever Ray and old school soul. Besides we both really enjoy jazz and classical music.

Movies: We like everything from Inglorious Bastards to Underground (by Kosturica) and The Tin Drum. Some favorite directors are the Cohen Brothers, Lars von Trier and Pedro Almodovar.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The soft and tuneful call of the muezzin before sunrise on a friday morning in a small beach village in Oman. Truly a beautiful moment.

Depending on time and circumstances we can teach you to make the traditional Danish rye bread, which will keep you healthy for the rest of your life.
And of course, since Copenhagen is branding itself the best biking city in Europe: If you don't know how to bike, we are willing to help you try it out... At your own risk...
