About Me

ABOUT ME

To get the officiel(boring) stuff out of the way first:
I a medicine student, that is just about to finish the last semester of medicin i Copenhagen, whereafter I will be a doctor. I have lived in copenhagen for the last seven years and grew up in Aarhus, the second biggist city in Denmark. Before I went to Copenhagen, I did a degree within molecolar biology, a field close to biochemistry. I have always been very research interested, and hope to end up working with in the field of neuroscience one way or the other.

I would say I'am the friendly and easygoing type, that both likes to meet other people and find out who and how they are, and to just enjoy my present life as it unfoldes before me.
Im also a thinker and an explorer, love to learn new things, see new places and wonder about the world, how come things are as they are. Preferably with others, since it becomes a richer and deeper experience, when you share your world with others. It seems to me, that true wellbeing comes from steping into life and being present with the people around you.
Because often times, the solutions to a good life is simple, just to feel what you really want and then focus on getting it or getting there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have traveled some, mostly in Europe and the US, but also some of asia and australia, and I have always stayed at hostels.
Not mainly because it was cheep, but that have been an advantage, but because I wanted to meet new people and make new friend, no matter about I was travelling alone or with someone. But the problem with hostels is that you don't necessary get to meet any locals, just a lot of other travellers. So you are still in this parallel univers, that most Tourister are in, where you walk around and look at the foreign city, but don't really get to know it.
When I travel to a foreign country, it is also, or primarily , to learn a new culture, see how people live, to taste their food and to get to know them - not to just take pictures and cross it of some list. When I travel, want to feel part of that place and that culture for a time, feel how life can also be lived and explore that.
So I'm on couchsurfing, because I believe that you can get closer to the place and culture you travel to, if you live with and get to know people there.

Interests

Dancing - I have done most, salsa, tango, samba(a long time ago), and now I'm all into swing and especially Lindy hop.

Yoga and meditation - discovered this some five years ago, and was immedialy fascinated by it. That you can get a deep felt wellbeing and calm from both yoga and medication, whereby the world seems brighter and more vivid, without having changed anything but you internal state, is something I want to learn more about.

Sailing and diving - did it both about three years ago, and I was hooked from the first tour. I dream of having a sailing boat some day, and go diving from it.

Philosophy - I've read a lot of Kierkegaard, the famous danish philosophier, and the existentialists. I always good for a discussion about the big questions here in life.

Food - I want to know all about the local meals and try new spices. Also love cooking and making it taste just perfect.

Languages - not that good at it, but have a keen interest in learning as much as I can.

Science - One of my greatest interests are neuroscience, the scientific exploartion of the brain and mind. It brings together many fields, from medicine, through physics and philosophy, to psycology and informationsscience, with is one of the things I love about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like good engrossing book, and some of my favorate writers include Siri Hustvedt, Carlos Ruiz Zafon and Haruki Murakami.
With movies, I have spent countless hours with master pieces, eg the french masters, Tati and Trouffaut. I have broad taste in movies, from Tropic Thunder to American history X, and from The Broken Circle Breakdown to MUD.
So any recommendations of movies or book is always welcome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have some, diving in coral reefs of the coast, bundy jumping, sailing through stiff winds or just enjoyed a perfect sunset in mediterranean with a loved one.
But I have found, that the most amazing things for me, doesn't sound of much to others, but was breathtaking in the moment.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a broad knowledges, espeacilly within science, and I'm the type that my friends call first, if they have a some strange question.

I can explane you most about you body and how it works, also the more odd things, that you might/might not want to know...

Learn:
Languages, culture, music, or just whatever you would like to teach me. Also how your culture and custums are, as well as your food and ways of living.
At this time, Im particular interested in yoga and meditation, and want to learn about that world of peace and simple happiness.
