As you can see, I am Mathieu Neelen. The first 20 years of my life I have lived in the south of the Netherlands, in a very small town in the countryside. I have always been a big fan of travelling since I was young, and decided to travel frequently when I was 16. Starting with a RyanAir flight to Krakow. It is travelling that made me decide to start studying International Tourism Management, which gave me the chance to travel and live abroad as part of studying and internship.

As part of an exchange program I havel lived in the beautiful city Izmir in the west of Turkey, where I connected with my fellow students and enclosed friendships for life! It made me sad to leave but a new adventure was already on the way..

And that adventure is where I am right now! I got the chance to do an internship in Stockholm, Sweden. And this gave me the chance to see the northern part of Europe!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a tourism student, I sincerely believe in the additional value when you can experience and share it with others. Combining that with the uniqueness of meeting locals makes a trip so much more interesting and unforgetable! As a great journey is consisting about not only the destination, but even more about the people you meet!
