About Me
Heyo I'm Mathis!
I finished school last year and started traveling around the world. I've done that ever since, and I'm excited to get to new places and meet new facets of life. Currently, I'm on my way to see as much as I can, and to meet as many people while doing so. That's why I am Couchsurfing, mhm!
There are so many things I have yet to experience - so many things I have yet to learn.
At heart I'm a storyteller and thinker, but I have also been: a witch's apprentice, singer for my own band, illegal dairy farmer, captain, opera performer, jazz pianist for a restaurant, circus magician - uhh, yes, I am a bit of a storyteller.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Experiences through traveling, and getting to know awesome people. I am traveling like a leaf in the wind, and don't plan ahead all that much - which also means I often have to live through adventures.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Jazz (I played in a Jazz ensemble and a Big Band, and love Jacob Collier), Classical (choral arrangements are my favorite; I love vocal harmonies), Metal (Bmth, TOOL, AX7, ...), Rock (Muse, RAM, ...), Alternative (Aurora, Billie Eilish, ...), and everything else (except that one German style of pop music). I am a musician, play multiple instruments, and can beatbox; I enjoy being introduced to new music!
Literature: Epic and Lyric Fantasy, Old Sci-fi, Mythology, and Philosophy. I also play D&D, and actually write quite a lot for that myself.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I saved two people and their boat, once, as a captain on a vessel under sail. A day later, we met the people we saved in the port of a small city in the Netherlands.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm open to any and all discussion, preferably but not necessarily inducing: ethics, history, personal experience and passion, philosophy, self development, perspective, or creativity. I can teach beatboxing and juggling, and always love to learn new languages.
I'm a bit of a nerd in the topics of linguistics, fantasy, music, and writing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Bits and bobs of writing and poetry, music, and both ear and mouth for conversation. I also love telling stories, not only about traveling :D
